Underwriting Support Supervisor
within in the Business Enablement team. As a supervisor, you will oversee the day-to-day operations and facilitate the efficient and effective delivery of exceptional service to agents, policy holders, and Underwriters. You will manage workflows, ensuring accuracy and timeliness in policy issuance, quotes, endorsements, renewals, and related transactions. Additionally, you will devise strategies to accomplish departmental objectives, lead projects, and work together with team members and various internal stakeholders to ensure company objectives are met or exceeded. In this leadership role, you will guide and support a team that is collaborative, continuously seeking process improvements, all while assuring professional development and success of your team members. Additionally, you will focus on demonstrating our SPIRIT values and ensuring we create both quality results and relationships that drive us towards UFG's vision to always deliver on our promises.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Directly supervise and support a team of Underwriting Support professionals within an assigned functional unit to ensure timely and accurate issuance of commercial lines policies, quotes, endorsements, renewals and related transactions.
- Partners with Support Manager to direct the day-to-day activities of the team by facilitating communication and establishing priorities, reviewing assignments, redirecting work as needed and resolving problems to make improvements to meet established operations service standards.
- Utilizes data to monitor team performance, identify areas for improvement, make informed decisions about resource allocation, track progress towards goals, and provide targeted feedback to employees.
- Works within the constraints of the department operating budget.
- Assists during the hiring process and the development, evaluating, and discharging of employees.
- Help design and monitor processes to drive continuous improvement initiatives and recommend new strategies to enhance service delivery.
- Conducts quarterly and annual performance evaluations for employees to ensure SPIRIT values are being demonstrated.
- Facilitate team meetings designed to share department and organization updates.
- Maintains open communication with Learning & Knowledge, Risk Control, and other various departments to ensure seamless delivery of objectives.
- Ensures compliance with predetermined workflows and procedures
- Promotes and exhibits UFG's Vision, Mission, and Values.
Education
Job Specifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- College degree preferred in relevant field but not required.
Certifications And Designations
- Certificate of General Insurance (AINS) and Supervisory Management (SM) designations preferred.
- Employees are expected to participate in continuing education throughout their careers.
- Pursuit of other insurance designations or courses to include AU, ARM, CIC, AIC.
Experience
- 3+ years of insurance experience, preferably in Property & Casualty commercial lines.
- 2+ years of experience in an underwriting support role.
- 1+ years of team lead, mentoring or supervisory experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Ability to identify, analyze, and resolve problems, motivate and develop staff, recognize and meet customer needs, and effectively plan and execute business strategies.
- Knowledge & understanding of commercial insurance coverages.
- Ability to remain organized, establish priorities, work independently, and achieve objectives without supervision.
- Proficient in the use of the MS Office suite including outlook and Excel.
- Capable of working in a fast-paced environment and meeting deadlines.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Collaborative team player with the ability to work effectively with a diverse range of internal and external customers.
- Demonstrates a high level of professionalism.

Pay Transparency Statement
UFG Insurance is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The base salary range for this position is $59,622 - $78,637 annually, which represents the typical range for new hires in this role. Individual pay within this range will be determined based on a variety of factors, including relevant experience, education, certifications, skills, internal equity, geography and market data.
