About
This position assists the radiologist and other physicians with high quality, computerized tomographic and radiographic images required in part for the diagnosis and treatment of patients while ensuring the least amount of radiation exposure to oneself and the patient. Provides general care to the patient while in the department.
Responsibilities
(35%)* Performs computer tomography studies following protocol. Is able to differentiate between normal and abnormal anatomy and will tailor exams in accordance with patient history obtained, protocol, and Radiologist instruction.
(30%)* Administers IV and oral contrast as required for procedures according to protocols. Follows departmental protocol and institution guidelines for delivery of IV contrast material. Monitors patients� physical and mental condition throughout the entire procedures. Records any and all patient data appropriately.
(20%)* Provides radiation protection for patients, self and others using gonadal shielding and collimation where applicable. Document acknowledgment of scheduling as directed.
(15%)* Performs nursing duties, including but not limited to the following: assisting the radiologist in the performance of sterile procedures, practicing sterile technique, obtain vital signs, obtain pertinent clinical history, and must be proficient in venous puncture. Will document any and all important data appropriately. Will be able to identify an allergic reaction or any other urgent medical condition and will notify and assist the radiologist in the treatment of such a situation.
OTHER DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Prepares and maintains patient information and digital files in computerized database.
Performs clerical duties in the absence of clerical personnel.
Orients and trains new personnel and students to the departmental policies, procedures and protocols.
Participates in quality assurance and CQI programs as needed.
All other duties as assigned.
