About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Software Engineer to join our dynamic engineering team. In this role, you will play a critical part in developing, architecting, and enhancing Check's core platform and services. You will work on building scalable, resilient systems using cloud-native tools, primarily focusing on Python and related technologies. Your contributions will directly impact the way businesses process payroll and payments, ensuring our platform remains robust, secure, and innovative. You will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to solve some of the most challenging problems in payroll technology, contribute to system architecture, and drive technical excellence across the organization. Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
- Proven experience in building and maintaining complex, scalable systems
- Strong proficiency in Python and/or Go, with experience in Django or similar frameworks
- Experience with front-end technologies such as React and Typescript is a plus
- Hands-on experience with cloud infrastructure, preferably AWS, and infrastructure as code tools like Terraform
- Solid understanding of database systems, especially Postgres
- Experience with workflow orchestration tools such as Temporal
- Proficiency in version control, CI/CD pipelines, and issue tracking systems like GitLab
- Ability to debug complex systems and handle critical incidents effectively
- Experience setting technical strategy and influencing cross-team collaboration
- Excellent problem-solving skills, critical thinking, and a proactive mindset
- Strong communication skills and ability to share knowledge and feedback effectively
Responsibilities
- Actively contribute to improving Check's platform by tackling challenging engineering problems
- Design, develop, and maintain scalable and reliable services within our mono-repo architecture
- Build prototypes to test innovative solutions, enabling rapid iteration and learning
- Provide constructive feedback and share best practices to enhance team performance and product quality
- Mentor and coach team members, fostering a culture of transparency, vulnerability, and continuous improvement
- Shape system architecture to simplify and optimize the development process
- Take ownership of end-to-end delivery, from system design through deployment and monitoring
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure alignment on technical strategies and project goals
- Contribute to technical documentation, proposals, and diagrams to communicate complex ideas clearly
- Participate in code reviews, testing, and incident management to uphold high standards of quality and resilience
