SUMMARY: The CDL Driver will be responsible for the safe and timely transportation of choice white grease, feedstock, and other bio-based products to and from the biodiesel production facility. This role supports plant operations by ensuring critical materials are hauled in compliance with DOT regulations, safety standards, and environmental protocols.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Operate a commercial vehicle (48'–53' trailers and tankers) to haul choice white grease and other feedstock/bio-products as directed.
- Follow all DOT, EPA, and company safety regulations, including proper handling of bio-based materials.
- Conduct thorough pre-trip and post-trip inspections, ensuring vehicle readiness and compliance.
- Maintain accurate driver logs, trip sheets, and load documentation.
- Communicate with plant personnel, dispatch, and loading/unloading sites to ensure efficient workflow.
- Ensure secure, clean, and leak-free transport of all loads.
- Clean, disinfect, and maintain truck and trailer as needed, following biosecurity and contamination control standards.
- Assist in the safe loading and unloading of materials using appropriate PPE and equipment.
- Perform minor maintenance or coordinate repairs on assigned truck and trailer.
- Report spills, safety concerns, or mechanical issues immediately to supervisors.
REQUIREMENTS:
- High school diploma or GED required.
- Valid CDL (Class A) with tanker endorsement (Hazmat preferred).
- Minimum 2 years of commercial driving experience, preferably with bio-products, feedstock, or waste transport.
- Strong knowledge of DOT regulations and hours-of-service compliance.
- Ability to work independently, adapt to changing schedules, and follow both written and verbal instructions.
- Must be able to back and maneuver trailers safely in tight or busy workspaces.
- Strong focus on safety, cleanliness, and environmental responsibility.
- Availability to work flexible hours, including overnights or weekends as needed.
WORK ENVIRONMENT: Exposure to moving mechanical parts, weather conditions, grease, waste material, feed dust, and moderate airborne particles. Work may involve driving in rural and industrial areas, including processing facilities.
Physical Demands:
- Must be able to regularly lift/move up to 50 lbs., occasionally up to 100 lbs., and push/move up to 300 lbs.
- Requires use of hands, arms, and legs, climbing, bending, crouching, and driving for extended periods.
- Visual requirements include close vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
NORMAL WORK SCHEDULE: Monday through Friday, working hours to be determined. Occasionally extended hours or changes in schedule will be required as special circumstances arise.
