Requirements:
The Filter Press Operator is responsible for performing various tasks to maintain and operate the filter press system at Arcadia Inc. This role involves inspecting, cleaning, and ensuring the proper function of the filter press equipment, as well as conducting routine maintenance to ensure smooth operation. The Filter Press Operator also works to maintain a chemical balance within the system and ensures that safety and health regulations are consistently followed.

Responsibilities:

  • Operate and maintain the filter press system, ensuring that filter cakes are properly cleaned and transferred to bins.
  • Perform weekly checks on filters, rectifiers, and heat exchangers to ensure proper functioning.
  • Regularly check and monitor the pH levels in tanks within the filter press system and at the discharge to the city to ensure environmental compliance.
  • Pump sulfuric acid from anodizing tanks to storage tanks to maintain chemical balance and ensure the pH is within the required range.
  • Inspect and maintain filter press components, such as filter clothes, ensuring there are no holes or loose parts. Use a scissor lift to conduct inspections at heights.
  • Repair and troubleshoot issues with pumps, leaky pipes, and other equipment as needed.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including ensuring all tools and equipment are in proper working condition.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure smooth production operations and assist with any additional tasks as needed.
  • Comply with all safety protocols, including wearing proper protective equipment and following safety guidelines.
  • Report any issues with equipment, chemicals, or production processes to supervisors promptly.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements:

  • Ability to work in a physically demanding environment, including frequent bending, lifting, and squatting.
  • Knowledge and experience in maintaining and operating filter press equipment.
  • Strong problem-solving skills for troubleshooting mechanical issues.
  • Occupational Safety & Health Administration (OSHA) certification is a plus.
  • Availability to work overtime, weekends, and holidays when necessary.
  • Basic math skills: ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide numbers up to 100.
  • Comfortable working at heights and using a scissor lift.

Physical Demands:

  • The physical demands described here are representative of those required to successfully perform the essential functions of the Filter Press Operator role.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, bend, and squat.
  • Must be able to lift and move objects up to 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to perform tasks requiring the use of hands, fingers, and controls for extended periods.
  • The employee must be able to work in elevated positions using a scissor lift for inspections.
