Job Overview
We are seeking a skilled Controls Technician with hands-on experience working with Tridium Niagara (N4), Honeywell, or Schneider Electric building automation platforms. This technician will be responsible for installing, programming, commissioning, and servicing building automation and HVAC control systems for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities. The ideal candidate has strong technical aptitude, field experience with BAS controls, and the ability to deliver high-quality work with minimal supervision.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, configure, test, and commission HVAC control systems and BAS hardware/software for new construction and retrofit projects.
- Program, integrate, and troubleshoot Tridium Niagara N4, Honeywell, or Schneider Electric controllers and field devices.
- Integrate multi-vendor systems using standard communication protocols such as BACnet, Modbus, and LonWorks.
- Perform field diagnostics, preventive maintenance, calibration, and corrective repairs on building automation systems.
- Work closely with engineers, project managers, electricians, and mechanical contractors to ensure accurate and high-quality installations.
- Document as-built configurations, sequence changes, programming notes, and generate detailed service reports.
- Provide technical support and occasional end-user training to clients on system operation, alarms, and best practices.
Qualifications
- 3+ years of experience in HVAC controls, building automation, or related technical fields.
- Working knowledge of Niagara N4, Honeywell building controls, or Schneider Electric BAS platforms.
- Strong understanding of control theory, HVAC sequence of operations, and mechanical system functionality.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, schematics, submittals, and control drawings.
- Familiarity with low-voltage wiring, I/O terminations, and network communications for BAS systems.
- Valid driver's license with willingness to travel to project sites as needed.
- Strong troubleshooting abilities and excellent communication and customer service skills.
Preferred Skills
- Niagara N4 certification or equivalent OEM/manufacturer training.
- Experience with energy management systems, dashboards, or analytics platforms.
- Basic IT and networking understanding, including IP addressing, routers, switches, and VLANs.
- Experience performing BAS retrofits, upgrades, and system integrations.
