Location: Lake Grove, NY

Schedule: Full Time

Days/Hours: Monday to Friday - may include evenings and weekends

Pay: $ $30.75

Responsibilities:

Summary

The Endoscopy Technician assists physicians and nurses during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. This role is responsible for preparing and maintaining the endoscopy suite, ensuring proper functioning and sterilization of equipment, and supporting safe, efficient patient care in compliance with all infection control and regulatory standards.

Job Duties & Essential Functions:

  • Prepare procedure rooms and equipment for endoscopic examinations and procedures.
  • Assist the physician and nursing staff during endoscopic procedures, including handling instruments, operating equipment, and ensuring patient comfort and safety.
  • Clean, disinfect, and maintain endoscopy instruments and scopes according to established protocols and manufacturer guidelines.
  • Maintain accurate logs for scope cleaning, equipment maintenance, and inventory of supplies.
  • Ensure readiness of emergency equipment and participate in emergency response as directed.
  • Monitor and restock supplies to maintain par levels in the procedure and clean rooms.
  • Transport equipment, specimens, and patients as necessary.
  • Comply with all infection prevention, safety, and HIPAA regulations.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in-service education, and ongoing competency training.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned to support the efficiency and safety of the endoscopy unit.

Qualifications:

Required Education & Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience in a clinical or surgical setting.
  • Basic Life Certification (BLS)

Preferred Education & Qualifications:

  • Completion of an accredited Endoscopy Technician, Surgical Technician, or Medical Assistant program preferred.
  • Basic Life Certification (BLS)
  • Prior endoscopy or gastroenterology experience strongly preferred.

Skills & Competencies

  • Knowledge of endoscopic equipment, terminology, and sterile technique.
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to infection control standards.
  • Ability to anticipate physician and nurse needs during procedures.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities in a fast-paced environment.

Physical Demands:

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to communicate with patients, staff and medical providers. The employee must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations. This position is active and requires the employee to constantly move about in the office to assist patients, staff and medical providers. Any additional physical demands will be outlined and provided by management.
