Position Summary
The Education Department is seeking an enthusiastic Program/Teacher's Assistant to join our team. This role is crucial for our kids program for elementary school students. The successful candidate will assist in delivering an engaging kids program over the 12 weeks as well as assisting in other office duties.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
● Classroom Preparation: Seamlessly assist in the setup and breakdown of classroom spaces, ensuring all materials are prepared and organized for arts & crafts, K-pop dance, and chorus classes.
● Student Engagement: Actively support the lead instructor in delivering interactive and engaging educational experiences, helping to manage class flow and ensuring each student participates and learns effectively.
● Learning Support: Provide individual attention to students during class activities, helping to tailor instruction to different learning styles and needs.
● Safety and Order: Maintain a safe, clean, and inviting learning environment, adhering to KCS' high standards for classroom conduct and safety protocols.
● Administrative Support: Assist in maintaining accurate class records and student progress reports, providing essential feedback to the Education Department staff.
Education and Experience Requirements
● Educational Background: High school diploma required; current college enrollment or higher education preferred.
● Previous experience assisting in classrooms or working with children is preferred.
● Experience working with the immigrant community is preferred.
Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities)
Knowledge
● Cultural Sensitivity: Understanding of cultural differences and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
● Must have a working knowledge on how to interact and communicate with children as well as families of the children.
Abilities
● Ability to communicate effectively, verbally and in writing, in the language(s) necessary to perform the essential functions of the position (e.g., English, Korean, or both), including the ability to hear, speak, and be understood in the work environment.
● Ability to multitask, manage priorities, and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
● Demonstrate cultural sensitivity and ability to work effectively with individuals from diverse backgrounds.
Skills
● Skills: Strong organizational and communication skills are essential, along with the ability to create a supportive and inclusive classroom environment.
● Must be able to multi-task and be detail oriented.
● Technology Support: Must be able to provide technical support to instructors as needed.
● Actively looking for ways to assist the students, instructors, and other staff members as needed.
● Strong teamwork and problem-solving skills; ability to work collaboratively with staff, volunteers, and community partners.
● Proficient in using Google Workspace.
Physical Demands and Work Environment

● Availability: Must be available to work on weekdays and Saturdays during the 12-week program period.
● Must be able to stand and walk a considerable amount of time, almost the entire workday.
● Have hand dexterity to use the computer, office equipment, books, and assist students with activities.
● Ability to reach and bend to assist students and maintain classroom setup.
● Carry and lift supplies or objects up to 25 lbs.
● Fluent in the English language with effective communication skills with the ability to hear, speak, see and be understood.
● Ability to handle crisis situations and respond immediately to emergency situations.
● Works in a noisy environment at times with bright lighting.

Compensation:
$18/hr - $20/hr
