About
Job Purpose
To design, develop, and enhance manufacturing processes by analyzing product specifications and manufacturing techniques.
Duties and Responsibilities
Process Development: Create and refine manufacturing processes with a strong emphasis on operator safety. This involves studying product requirements, researching and designing manufacturing methods and equipment, and collaborating with equipment vendors.
Quality Assurance: Ensure product and process quality by designing robust manufacturing processes that incorporate poka-yoke solutions to prevent quality issues. Design and implement testing methods, evaluate finished products, and establish standards to verify manufacturing processes.
Productivity Improvement: Enhance manufacturing productivity by analyzing and optimizing workflow, space utilization, and equipment layout in line with Kubota's 5-Gen and KPS Principles.
Decision Support: Provide critical information for manufacturing decisions by calculating production, labor, and material costs, reviewing production schedules, and forecasting future requirements.
Project Management: Oversee project-related activities transparently for new initiatives or modifications to existing programs, including timelines, budgets, design specifics, team coordination, quotations, and vendor procurement.
Reporting: Prepare comprehensive reports on product and process performance by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing relevant data and trends.
Documentation: Create and maintain process documentation, including work instructions, standard operating procedures, and technical specifications.
Manufacturing Support: Assist manufacturing teams in achieving safety, productivity, and quality objectives through effective process design, optimization projects, and Kaizen initiatives.
Regulatory Compliance: Uphold product and company reputation by adhering to government regulations.
Maintenance Collaboration: Work with maintenance teams to establish preventative maintenance protocols for new equipment, following manufacturer guidelines and established procedures.
Policy Adherence: Follow all company and departmental policies, making recommendations for improvements when applicable.
Design Records: Develop design records for tooling and fixtures using CAD applications and ensure proper storage of these records.
Training: Facilitate the implementation of new or revised processes by training technicians effectively.
Professional Development: Stay current in the field by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional literature, building personal networks, and participating in professional organizations.
Team Collaboration: Contribute to team success by supporting colleagues as needed during capacity challenges.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Engineering or a related field in manufacturing.
- Skills in dealing with complexity, informing others, leadership, supervision, manufacturing methods and procedures, manufacturing quality, presenting technical information, and CAD/CAM circuit design.
Preferred Skills and Experience
- Proficiency in AutoCAD, MS Access, or SQL.
- Experience with 4.0 Technologies and Automation.
- Experience in the manufacturing engineering field.
- A Master's degree in a manufacturing-related engineering discipline is a plus.
Working Conditions
- Must be able to work in extreme temperatures and loud environments.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods on the shop floor, sit at a desk, use hands and fingers, reach with arms, and operate power and hand-held tools.
