We have an exciting opportunity to join an existing team as a
Software Engineering Team Lead , providing technical and personnel leadership to deliver cutting‑edge software solutions.
The ideal candidate will have a strong software background, with experience leading technical strategy to accelerate deliveries such as migrating to the cloud, DevSecOps, SRE, and cutting‑edge software architecture and methodologies, coupled with leadership skills to support a team of engineers, working on‑site at least part of each week.
It’s a great opportunity to develop your leadership skills by assuming line‑management responsibilities without sacrificing the technical aspect of your role.
Responsibilities
Responsible for day‑to‑day employee management, performance assessment, work assignments, approvals and recognition/disciplinary actions.
Lead a technical team and work with stakeholders to deliver secure, high‑quality software.
Manage time and the team’s time effectively to develop solutions that meet cost and quality targets.
Promote and drive innovation and technical excellence across software engineering teams.
Establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients and suppliers across all levels of the organisation internally and with the customer.
Collaborate internally to drive personnel‑focused process improvements.
Collaborate with customer teams to standardise approaches and bring best practices to bear across the organisation.
Participate in technical and business meetings, ensuring engineering elements are completed on schedule following established procedures, schedules, and work plans.
Perform additional programme‑related tasks assigned that fall within your area of expertise, competence and skill set.

Required skills, qualifications and experience
Skilled at active listening and technical mentoring.
Ability to direct staff to achieve technical objectives and solutions.
Ability to manage tasks and priorities to ensure assigned workload is delivered on time.
Positive attitude and willingness to get involved with tasks across the engineering lifecycle.
Ability to communicate with a wide range of audiences on complex topics.
Proficiency in a current software development language such as Java, C/C++, Python, TypeScript, ReactJS.
A knowledge of
DevSecOps approaches to automation and security.
Infrastructure as code tools.
Cloud technologies.
Desired skills, qualifications and experience
Experience leading and day‑to‑day managing people.
Ability to analyse technical problems and provide pragmatic solutions.
Proven ability to produce cost‑effective and technically compliant solutions.
Experience as an engineering lead or similar position.
Experience with agile or kanban methodologies.
Experience working in a highly regulated industry.
Degree in Engineering or other STEM subjects.
