Job Summary
We are seeking a passionate and experienced Dance Instructor to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in various dance styles, including ballet and possess excellent teaching skills. This role involves developing engaging curriculum, managing classes for diverse age groups, and fostering a positive learning environment that promotes creativity, discipline, and growth. The Dance Instructor will play a vital role in inspiring students of all ages to explore their love of dance while supporting their overall development.
Duties
- Design and implement comprehensive dance curricula tailored to different skill levels and age groups, including children, preschoolers, and adults
- Teach dance classes with a focus on technique, expression, and performance skills across styles such as ballet and theater
- Manage classroom behavior effectively to ensure a safe, respectful, and productive environment
- Develop lesson plans that incorporate creative activities like photography or sewing projects related to dance themes
- Provide individualized tutoring or coaching to students needing extra support in dance or related subjects like childhood development or early childhood education
- Incorporate elements of classroom management and behavior management strategies to maintain an organized learning space
- Engage students through innovative teaching methods, including incorporating multimedia or culinary experiences related to dance culture when appropriate
- Document student progress through assessments and provide constructive feedback to encourage improvement and confidence
Requirements
- Proven experience in teaching dance, with knowledge of curriculum development and lesson planning
- Strong classroom management skills with the ability to handle behavior issues effectively
- Experience working with children, preschoolers, or adults in educational or extracurricular settings
- Background in ballet, or other dance styles
- Familiarity with early childhood education principles and childhood development stages
- Ability to create engaging lesson plans
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to motivate and inspire students of varying ages and skill levels
- Experience working with students who have special educational needs or require accommodations is desirable
- Passion for fostering artistic expression and personal growth through dance education
