Role: Systems Engineer

Client: Defense-Aerospace

Hourly Rate: up to $57/hr W2, non-benefited

Length: Long-term

Location: Scottsdale, AZ

Clearance: Department of Defense Top Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire.

Desired Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Experience with system/software design for cloud-based microservice architecture
  • Knowledge of networking concepts and protocols (e.g., TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP)
  • Familiarity with operating systems (e.g., Linux, Windows)
  • Experience with virtualization technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V)
  • Ground system design or scheduling knowledge
  • Tracking mission design knowledge
  • Satellite communications knowledge
  • Ground to satellite communication knowledge
  • Strong understanding of systems engineering principles and methodologies
  • Experience with systems design, integration, and validation
  • Proficiency in requirements analysis and system architecture design
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices
  • Experience with automation tools (e.g., Ansible, Puppet, Chef)
  • Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Knowledge of infrastructure as code (e.g., Terraform, CloudFormation)
  • Security and Compliance
  • Understanding of cybersecurity principles and best practices, familiarity with compliance standards such as NIST and ISO 27001
  • Ability to work effectively with multidisciplinary teams, strong problem-solving and analytical skills, proficiency in documenting system designs, configurations, and procedures
  • Proficiency in systems engineering including decomposing requirements into architecture, interfaces, and design behavior, experience with ground pre-planned or ad-hoc scheduling and satellite/payload situational awareness, experience tracking IR payload or ground mission data transport, handling, and analysis, experience decomposing high-level space-ground systems design into ground software and systems design
  • Experience with MBSE methodologies and tools such as CAMEO or MagicDraw
  • Familiarity with programming languages such as Java, Python, and MATLAB for software developer coordination, system analysis, prototype algorithm development, or modeling
  • Knowledge of cloud technologies and their application in system design and deployment
  • Background in simulation and modeling analysis with tools like STK, particularly in aerospace applications
  • Understanding of DevOps principles and practices, experience with automation tools such as Ansible, Puppet, and Chef

Required Education and Experience:

Requires a Bachelor's degree in Systems Engineering, or a related Science, Engineering, Technology or Mathematics field. Also requires 2+ years of job-related experience, or a Master's degree and 6 months of job-related experience.
