The Plant Engineer is responsible for the building structure/facility, and the design, maintenance, and operation of systems and equipment within the facility, ensuring efficiency, safety, and compliance with company standards. This role supervises the Maintenance department and develops a skilled team focused on reducing downtime, maintaining production equipment, improving productivity, and sustaining safe, compliant operations through preventive maintenance programs and procedures. The Plant Engineer partners with Operations, Engineering, Purchasing, and Safety to support process improvements, equipment upgrades, ISO 90001 standards, and continuous improvement initiatives across the plant. This is an on-site position located in North Baltimore, OH.

What You'll Do
The ideal candidate will have the ability to carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Primary Accountabilities include but are not limited to the following:
- Leads the plant's maintenance team and collaborates closely with Engineering to coordinate and execute tasks on facilities and equipment in a safe and effective manner
- Effectively develops and leverages an outsourcing network and negotiates contracts, as required, to meet organizational needs
- Establishes, leads and maintains preventive maintenance programs inspecting buildings and equipment
- Coordinates and project-manages capital projects, maintenance, updates, and renovations within a specified budget and timeframe efficiently, leveraging cross-functional teams (purchasing, engineering, safety, etc.)
- Partners with cross-functional teams (safety, HR) to identify and provide learning and development programs to ensure compliance with OSHA and safety regulations, proper operations, preventive maintenance, and repair programs and procedures
- Identifies projects that improve productivity, efficiency, process improvement, increased uptime (reduce downtime), while not compromising safety or quality
- Enforces safety practices and other employment policies for employees and outside contractors
- Assists with recruiting, hiring, training staff, evaluates employee performance, and recommends or initiates promotions, transfers, and disciplinary action
- Leverages CMMS ("Maintenance Connection") to prepare work schedules and assign work to subordinates, manage maintenance inventory and requisition tools, equipment, and supplies
- Works closely with production to ensure clear communication on equipment status and schedule services and/or repairs as needed
- Maintains inventory of spare parts
- Inspects completed work for conformance to blueprints, specifications, and standards
- Directs employees and/or contractors engaged in maintaining and repairing building utility systems, such as electrical wiring and controls, heating and ventilating systems, boilers, air compressors etc.
- Actively involved in the design, installation, and commissioning of new equipment and systems, and servicing and repairing current equipment and systems, ensuring they meet operational requirements and safety standards
- Practices and sustains ISO 9001 procedures and policies
- Ideates and initiates continuous improvements by using Lean/Continuous Improvement Principles
- Prepares and presents reports on plant performance, maintenance activities, and project progress, providing insights and make recommendations for future improvements
In addition to the accountabilities listed above, individuals may perform other duties as assigned, including work in other functional areas to cover absences or relief, to equalize peak work periods or otherwise to balance the workload.

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

- Electric Controls Expertise (Drive, PLC- Ladder Logic, etc),
- Strong Hydraulic knowledge (pump, controls, system, valving, etc),
- Administrative: CMMS (Maintenance connect, MS Office)
Licenses/Certifications
Lean and/or Continuous Improvement certification(s) preferred, such as:
- Lean Six Sigma "Belt" achievement
- Certified Lean Practitioner or Certified Lean Expert
- Certified Continuous Improvement Professional (CCIP)
Physical Requirements (Approximate time spent to be included in physical demands such as walking, or bending, specific lifting requirements (lbs) and/or other requirements such as vision or hearing.)
Most of the time spent sitting, standing, and walking. May be situations which require up to 25 pounds of lifting. Must be able to bend periodically. Must be able to see and hear.
