Job Summary
The Assistant Manager supports the daily operations of a high-volume bowling alley, bar, and full-service restaurant. This role is responsible for supervising staff, ensuring exceptional guest experiences, maintaining operational standards, and assisting with financial and compliance responsibilities. The assistant manager acts as the Manager-on-Duty in the absence of the General Manager and plays a critical role in team leadership, service execution, and problem resolution.
Key ResponsibilitiesOperations & Guest Experience
- Assist in overseeing daily operations of the bowling lanes, bar, kitchen, and dining areas
- Ensure consistent delivery of high-quality guest service across all departments
- Address and resolve guest concerns promptly and professionally
- Monitor cleanliness, safety, and organization of the facility
- Ensure all opening and closing procedures are properly completed
Staff Leadership & Supervision
- Supervise front-of-house, bar, kitchen, and bowling staff during assigned shifts
- Assist with hiring, onboarding, scheduling, and training of employees
- Enforce company policies, service standards, and code of conduct
- Provide coaching, feedback, and corrective action when necessary
- Lead by example to promote teamwork, accountability, and morale
Bar & Restaurant Oversight
- Support proper food and beverage service in compliance with health and liquor laws
- Monitor alcohol service to ensure responsible serving practices
- Assist with inventory control for food, beverage, and supplies
- Help reduce waste and control costs through proper procedures
Bowling Alley Operations
- Oversee lane usage, party bookings, leagues, and open play schedules
- Ensure bowling equipment, scoring systems, and arcade games are functioning properly
- Coordinate with maintenance or vendors as needed
Financial & Administrative Duties
- Assist with cash handling, drawer audits, and daily sales reporting
- Monitor labor costs and assist with scheduling to meet budget goals
- Support event coordination, leagues, and special promotions
- Complete incident reports, employee documentation, and operational checklists
Compliance & Safety
- Ensure compliance with health department regulations, safety standards, and company policies
- Support inspections and corrective action plans when required
- Enforce safety procedures for staff and guests
QualificationsRequired
- 2+ years of supervisory or management experience in hospitality, restaurant, bar, or entertainment venues
- Strong leadership and communication skills
- Ability to work nights, weekends, and holidays
- Knowledge of food safety, alcohol service laws, and labor regulations
- Strong problem-solving and decision-making abilities
Preferred
- Experience in a bowling alley, entertainment venue, or multi-department operation
- ServSafe and/or alcohol service certification (or willingness to obtain)
- POS system experience and basic financial reporting knowledge
Job Types: Full-time, Part-time
Pay: From $36,500.00 per year
