About
Burrow Global is a leading EPC services partner for the petrochemical, refining, and oil & gas industries. We deliver safe, reliable, and innovative solutions across the full project lifecycle, from front-end design through commissioning and startup. Our Deer Park office serves as a critical hub for delivering world-class engineering and project execution for our clients in the Gulf Coast region.
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Engineer specializing in fixed and rotating equipment to join our Deer Park engineering team. The successful candidate will contribute to the design, procurement support, reliability, and technical leadership of EPC projects for petrochemical and oil & gas facilities.
This role requires hands-on experience with equipment selection, pressure vessel design, piping interactions, rotating machinery (pumps, compressors, turbines), and adherence to applicable codes and standards. Collaboration with multi-discipline engineers, vendors, and construction teams is essential.
Responsibilities
Lead mechanical design and engineering activities for fixed and rotating equipment across EPC projects in petrochemical and oil & gas sectors.
Prepare and review equipment specifications, data sheets, P&IDs, ITRs, and design calculations for fixed and rotating equipment (vessels, heat exchangers, pumps, compressors, turbines, receivers, filters, valves, etc.).
Ensure compliance with applicable codes and standards (e.g., ASME Boiler & Pressure Vessel Code, API standards, NACE, TEMA, ISO, ATEX/IECEx as required).
Perform and review calculations for pressure/temperature ratings, suitability, stress, vibration, clearance, and maintainability.
Support equipment selection and vendor interface, including technical bid evaluations, FAT/SAT oversight, and defining acceptance criteria.
Coordinate with process, structural, electrical, instrumentation, and civil teams to ensure integrated plant design.
Support piping design interfaces, relief devices, piping flexibility, and stress analysis as it relates to fixed equipment.
Manage risk and constructability considerations during design, procurement, and execution phases.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or a closely related technical field; advanced degree a plus.
7 + years of direct experience with mechanical design and engineering on EPC projects for petrochemical or oil & gas facilities (refining, gas processing, petrochemical complexes, or equivalent).
Proven experience with fixed equipment (pressure vessels, heat exchangers, towers, columns, drums) and rotating equipment (pumps, compressors, turbines, motors) within process plant environments.
Strong knowledge of relevant codes and standards (ASME VIII & IX, U-Stamp, API 610/614/671, API 674/676, API 620, TEMA, etc.).
Experience with equipment datasheets, vendor data packages, and technical bid evaluations.
Familiarity with piping flexibility, vibration analysis, stress analysis, and integration of mechanical equipment with process piping.
Proficient in using engineering software and tools (e.g., PV Elite, COMPASS/Codeware, HYSYS/Unisim, Aspen Tech, CAESAR II, AutoCAD, CadWorx) and general MS Office suite.
Strong communication skills, ability to work in cross-functional teams, and proven ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced project environment.
