Position Overview:
The Controller will be responsible for overseeing all accounting and financial reporting functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory standards, and providing strategic financial insights to senior management. This role reports directly to the CFO and requires a proactive leader with extensive experience in asset management, particularly within hedge funds.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead and manage the daily accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable/receivable, and treasury functions.
- Prepare and review financial statements, management reports, and regulatory filings in accordance with GAAP and relevant industry standards.
- Oversee investor reporting, capital accounting, and performance calculations.
- Ensure compliance with SEC regulations, AIFMD, and other applicable regulatory requirements.
- Coordinate audits and liaise with external auditors, fund administrators, and regulators.
- Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure accuracy of financial data.
- Support the CFO in budgeting, forecasting, and financial analysis.
- Manage and mentor finance staff, fostering a high-performance team environment.
- Stay current on industry trends, regulatory changes, and best practices in asset management and hedge fund accounting.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field; CPA or CFA preferred.
- 7+ years of progressive accounting experience, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
- Strong background in asset management, with a focus on hedge funds; experience with fund structures, investor reporting, and performance calculations is strongly preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of GAAP, SEC reporting, and regulatory compliance.
- Proven experience managing audits and working with external auditors and regulators.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and analytical skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
- Demonstrated integrity and attention to detail.
