Full‑Stack Software Engineer – Productivity Tools
- Pullman, Washington, United States
- Pullman, Washington, United States
About
At SEL, we have ambitious goals for making electric power safer, more reliable, and more economical. When open-source or off-the-shelf tools don't meet the unique needs of our hardware and software engineers, we will call on you to rapidly create and scale high-quality, custom solutions in a way that unifies stubbornly diverse processes. As a full-stack developer of internal productivity tools, you'll be responsible for planning, verification, and maintenance, as well as collaborating with partners in UX, IT, and product ownership. We need a generalist, not a specialist, so the more and varied systems you've built with your own hands, the better.
A typical day will include:- Understanding what slows down our engineers.
- Inventing tools to help them work better and faster.
- Designing, implementing, and testing software systems.
- Teaching users how to get the most out of our custom tools.
- Holding yourself accountable for customer productivity outcomes.
- Focus on delivering customer-centric solutions.
- Enjoy solving problems in ways just now possible.
- Come up with transformative ideas to be successful.
- Take on tough challenges with a sense of urgency.
- Make clear promises and exceed expectations.
- Deal comfortably with uncertainty and change.
- Learn efficiently when faced with unfamiliar tasks.
- Can make exceptional software tools very quickly.
You will be joining and shaping a new productivity tools team while working alongside SEL innovators and experts inventing the future of electric power.
We prefer someone who has experience with:- Electrical engineering and power systems
- Creating things fast using AI coding assistants
- Python or other scripting languages
- Database design and administration
- Open-source software development
- Mentoring associate engineers
