About
Database Administrator is needed to perform the following duties:
Database Architecture, Systems Integration & Compliance
● Administer and maintain pharmacy systems such as BestRx, PrimeRx, Rx 30 and integrated DME platforms, ensuring real-time data availability, security, and HIPAA-compliant operations.
● Design and optimize relational database schemas(SQL Server/MySQL),develop and fine-tune T-SQL queries, stored procedures, and indexing strategies to reduce latency and improve efficiency.
● Oversee ETL processes and ensure the accurate integration of structured health data between pharmacy software and cloud/local storage environments.
● Working with a database requires the administrator to understand complex systems, and how a minor error can cause major problems.
● Support and perform the processing of electronic prescriptions, insurance claims, and billing transactions through secure, validated, and fully auditable database workflows.
● Implement and manage automated backup, disaster recovery, and high availability solutions, minimizing data loss risks and system downtime.
● Leverage various frameworks for middleware integration and service communication between desktop systems, APIs, and web-based interfaces within the pharmacy's IT ecosystem.
● Assisting in managing and analyzing pharmaceutical data, including inventory levels, expiration tracking, potency monitoring, and demand forecasting, also contributing to the development of data visualizations and statistical models to enhance stock management, reduce waste, and improve operational efficiency.
● Resolve rejected/denied insurance claims and generate reports for audits and compliance.
● Identify database requirements by interviewing customers; analyzing department applications, programming, and operations; evaluating existing systems and designing proposed systems. If needed, develop a new database to fit in the customer needs to benefit the pharmacy customers.
Business Intelligence, Automation & Application Development
● Design and support a cost-effective, database-driven medicine ordering system integrated with backend services and pharmacy workflows to minimize manual input and improve turnaround time.
● Develop, test, and maintain applications that support internal operations and interface with pharmacy systems, ensuring secure and scalable architecture.
● Conduct regular data audits, generate custom reports and dashboards using SQL views or business intelligence tools (e.g., Power BI), and deliver insights for executive decision-making.
● Ensure all automated systems and data logic conform with ICD-10 medical coding standards, insurance rules, and healthcare billing requirements.
Web & Mobile App Management, Support & Technical Training
● Manage and update the pharmacy's website and mobile application, implementing secure login portals, online refill forms, appointment modules, and analytics tracking.
● Monitor front-end/backend application performance, resolve technical issues, and ensure uptime through tools like Cloudflare, Google Console, and mobile crash reporting services.
● Provide structured training and technical support for pharmacy staff, ensuring proper use of all digital systems, including patient data entry, prescription management, and insurance claims.
● Maintain and support pharmacy accounting systems, ensuring accurate data sync with operational records and streamlined reporting for audits and compliance.
● Provide basic networking support and Windows OS troubleshooting, including diagnosing connectivity issues, printer/server setup, firewall configurations, and system performance optimization.
Bachelor's Degree is required in Computer Science or Computer Engineering or Applied Computer Science or Information Technology .
