About the Role:
We are seeking an experienced Agile Coach to support Agile transformation initiatives for DLA. This remote, long-term contract role focuses on coaching teams and leadership, implementing Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) practices while ensuring compliance with governance, security, and documentation requirements. The ideal candidate is a hands-on coach who balances Agile principles with the realities of regulated federal programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Coach teams, Product Owners, Release Train Engineers (RTEs), and leadership in SAFe, Scrum, or Hybrid Agile methodologies.
- Facilitate key ceremonies, including PI Planning, retrospectives, daily standups, and Inspect & Adapt workshops.
- Guide Agile Release Trains (ARTs) and support SAFe implementation.
- Assist in transitioning teams from Waterfall to Agile, improving delivery metrics (e.g., velocity, predictability, cycle time).
- Align Agile practices with DoD governance, ATO processes, security controls, contract requirements, audits, and reporting mandates.
- Develop governance friendly Jira workflows, dashboards, burn-down/up charts, and backlog management tools.
- Coach non-technical stakeholders and leadership on Agile mindset, navigating change resistance, and communicating benefits in plain language.
- Ensure Agile artifacts support (not eliminate) necessary documentation for compliance.
Required Qualifications
- Proven Agile experience, including execution within governance frameworks.
- Strong Scaled Agile Framework (SAFe) expertise: ARTs, PI Planning facilitation, working with Product Owners/RTEs/leadership.
- Hands-on coaching and delivery: Mentoring teams/leaders, facilitating ceremonies, driving metrics improvements.
- Advanced Jira/Agile tooling proficiency: Workflows, reporting, backlog management, dashboards.
- Excellent change management and communication skills for regulated environments.
- Understanding that Agile and documentation/compliance can coexist effectively.
Preferred Certifications
- SAFe Program Consultant (SPC)
- SAFe Agilist (SA) or SAFe Scrum Master (SSM)
