Position Description:
We are seeking a Systems Engineer to join our client's IT Infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining and optimizing enterprise server operating systems, hardware, storage, and application software. You will lead efforts in system configuration, patching, performance tuning, and disaster recovery planning while ensuring compliance with security and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities:
- Administer and maintain server operating systems, hardware, and storage solutions.
- Monitor system performance, troubleshoot issues, and ensure high availability.
- Plan and execute system upgrades, patching, and configuration changes.
- Develop and maintain disaster recovery and business continuity plans.
- Collaborate with Systems Engineers, DBAs, Network Engineers, and Developers on enterprise projects.
- Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
- Participate in root-cause analysis and capacity planning for infrastructure improvements.
- Mentor junior team members and provide technical training as needed.
- Document configurations, processes, and lessons learned to support continuous improvement.
Required Skills & Education:
- 7+ years of experience in IT infrastructure or systems engineering (or Bachelor's degree in IT-related field plus 5 years of experience).
- Advanced knowledge of Microsoft, UNIX/Linux, or mainframe systems.
- Experience with system performance tuning, capacity planning, and disaster recovery.
- Strong understanding of security policies, compliance standards, and audit practices.
- Familiarity with project management principles and Agile methodologies.
- Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills.
Preferred:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field.
- Advanced certifications in Microsoft, Linux, network, or storage technologies.
- Experience developing apps, and/or automating things (powershell, python, ansible, splunk, etc.)
