Mental Health/Homeless Nurse – County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services Employer: Service Care Solutions Location: County Durham Contract: ASAP start until 31st March 2026 Hours: Monday – Friday, 37.5 hours per week (flexible to meet service needs) Pay Rate: £30 per hour (Ltd) Role Overview We are recruiting on behalf of our substance misuse client for an experienced Mental Health/Homeless Nurse to join the County Durham Drug and Alcohol Recovery Services. This is a specialist outreach role supporting individuals who are rough sleeping and have complex needs, including dual diagnosis, health, substance misuse, and social challenges. You will manage your own caseload autonomously, provide comprehensive care, and take a lead role in dual diagnosis provision. The role also involves clinical governance activities, staff support, and implementation of best practice guidelines. Key Responsibilities Deliver specialist complex needs services for clients with mental health and substance misuse issues. Act upon referrals from internal teams and external stakeholders. Provide outreach support for harm reduction and rough sleeping services. Conduct health assessments and deliver health promotion/harm reduction interventions. Ensure compliance with prescribing guidelines and clinical governance standards. Support continuous professional development and practice education within the team.Essential Criteria Qualified Mental Health Nurse (NMC registered). Awareness of the social context of substance misuse. Experience working with substance misusing clients. Skilled in assessing clients and prescribing safely and effectively. Knowledge of recovery-oriented substance misuse treatment. Ability to act as a service user advocate and adopt a solution-focused approach.
