To compensate the teaching and research responsibilities of the Vice President and head of the Environ­mental Economics working group at the Landau campus of RPTU, we are seeking to fill a fixed-term position as a Research Assistant (E 13 TV-L) until February 28, 2029.

About us

The interdisciplinary Environmental Economics working group at RPTU in Landau is focused on the inter­section of environment, society and economics in both research and teaching. Our work emphasizes the integration of ecosystem services into decision-making processes, using environmental assessment methods in Germany and internationally (South America and Africa). We are also active in research areas such as life cycle assessment and in other environment-related challenges.


  • Deliver English-language courses in the area of environmental economics, economic environmental valuation and human-environment interactions. You will have the opportunity to shape your own teaching profile by updating and redesigning existing courses.
  • Independently conceptualize, apply for and lead research projects
  • Supervise doctoral (if applicable), Master's and Bachelor's theses
  • Produce and publish scientific articles
  • Actively contribute to the activities and research agenda of the Environmental Economics working group
  • Further academic qualification (e. g. habilitation) is supported and encouraged

  • diploma or a Bachelor's AND a Master's degree
  • A completed doctoral degree is preferred
  • Solid background in environmental economics and environmental assessment
  • Very good written and spoken English language skills; German language skills are an asset
  • High degree of initiative and ability to work independently and collaboratively
  • Ideally, experience in securing research funding and managing projects
