SUMMARY:

The Warehouse Manager will oversee warehouse operations under the SFO Air Import Gateway structure, including Apex's Oakland warehouse. This role ensures efficient, safe, and compliant handling of air and ocean freight while supervising warehouse personnel, managing workflow, maintaining labor-law compliance, and upholding Apex's operational standards. The manager collaborates closely with the SFO Gateway team, Dispatch, Customer Service, CHB, and Security to support seamless cargo movement and consistent service quality across the gateway

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Operational Leadership

  • Manage daily warehouse activities including cargo receiving, verification, staging, storage, and outbound loading.
  • Ensure cargo integrity, proper handling, and accurate documentation for all inbound and outbound shipments.
  • Lead warehouse layout planning and resource allocation to maximize efficiency and safety.
  • Coordinate operational schedules and priorities with Gateway, Dispatch, and Customer Service teams.

Team Management & Training

  • Supervise warehouse leads, forklift operators, and general warehouse staff.
  • Assign daily tasks, manage shift coverage, and ensure staffing meets operational needs.
  • Conduct performance evaluations, coaching, and skill development for warehouse employees.
  • Build a respectful, safe, and high-performance work environment.

Timecard Oversight & Labor Law Compliance

  • Monitor, review, and approve employee timecards for accuracy and adherence to California labor laws.
  • Ensure mandatory meal and rest breaks are taken in accordance with state regulations.
  • Identify, document, and correct timekeeping or attendance discrepancies promptly.
  • Train supervisors on labor-law rules, documentation standards, and compliance expectations.

Safety & Regulatory Compliance

  • Enforce safety protocols, equipment checks, and OSHA standards throughout warehouse operations.
  • Ensure adherence to TSA, CBP, CTPAT, and Apex internal compliance requirements for SFO gateway operations.
  • Conduct routine warehouse audits and manage corrective action plans.

Performance, Cost Control & Billing Accuracy

  • Monitor warehouse productivity, labor efficiency, and service performance metrics.
  • Manage warehouse operating costs and support cost-control initiatives.
  • Oversee billing accuracy, warehouse revenue file validation, and timely file closing.

Collaboration & Communication

  • Act as the operational point of contact for internal teams and customers regarding warehouse activity.
  • Collaborate with SFO Gateway, Dispatch, Customer Service, CHB, BPM, and Security teams to maintain unified standards across the gateway.
  • Support implementation of best practices from Apex Hawthorne and Rancho facilities to ensure consistent service and compliance.

REQUIREMENTS:

  • 5+ years of warehouse or freight operations experience, including
    2+ years in a supervisory or management role
    .
  • Strong knowledge of CFS operations, air/ocean freight handling, and regulatory compliance.
  • Experience managing timecards and California labor-law compliance.
  • Proven leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills.
  • Familiarity with warehouse management systems; forklift certification preferred.
  • Flexibility for extended hours or weekend support as required
