As our new Shipping Supervisor, you'll manage daily outbound shipments, support inventory and logistics operations, and lead by doing. You'll also collaborate closely with management and HR, giving you a deeper understanding of people leadership, training, and communication—skills that will serve you well wherever your career takes you.

The Supervisor, Shipping & Receiving ensures that materials, supplies, and pharmaceutical products flow seamlessly into and out of our facility. This role safeguards compliance with GMP, SOPs, and regulatory standards, while also leading a team to meet service-level expectations with precision. By uniting shipping and receiving under one accountable leader, SBS strengthens quality, efficiency, and customer trust.

Key Responsibilities

Shipping Operations

  • Supervise daily outbound shipments, including proper packaging, labeling, documentation, and verification.
  • Ensure compliance with SOPs, GDP (Good Distribution Practices), and client specifications.
  • Prepare temperature-controlled containers (gel packs, dry ice, LN2) with 100% chain-of-custody accuracy.
  • Schedule and track domestic and international shipments with carriers (FedEx, UPS, World Courier).
  • Maintain accurate shipping logs and ensure readiness for internal/external audits.

Receiving Operations

  • Supervise all inbound deliveries, verifying packing slips, purchase orders, and material condition.
  • Ensure materials are inspected, documented, and transferred into inventory systems within 24 hours of receipt.
  • Manage receiving documentation to support audit readiness and regulatory compliance.
  • Coordinate with QA, Inventory, and Facilities to resolve discrepancies in real time.

Leadership & Compliance

  • Supervise 3–5 warehouse/shipping staff; monitor task completion, SOP adherence, and performance.
  • Provide training and ongoing mentorship on GMP-compliant shipping and receiving practices.
  • Enforce safety protocols and support 100% completion of required EHS/GMP training.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with QA, Facilities, and Inventory teams.

Process Improvement & Metrics

  • Monitor KPIs:
    • On-time shipment performance ≥ 98%.
    • Inbound material reconciliation within 24 hours ≥ 95%.
    • Zero critical audit findings related to shipping/receiving.
  • Propose process improvements to enhance speed, accuracy, and compliance.
  • Maintain adequate shipping and receiving supplies, preventing stockouts.

What Success Looks Like

  • All outbound shipments delivered on time with >98% accuracy.
  • All inbound deliveries reconciled within 24 hours of arrival.
  • Department achieves zero major audit findings related to documentation or process.
  • Staff engagement and retention maintained at >90%.
  • Recognized internally as a reliable and proactive partner for operations and compliance.

Qualifications

Required:

  • High school diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in shipping, receiving, or warehouse operations.
  • 1–2 years of supervisory or lead experience in a regulated or logistics environment.
  • Strong knowledge of GMP/GDP and compliance documentation.
  • Ability to manage teams, resolve conflicts, and prioritize multiple workflows.
  • Proficiency with shipping systems and inventory/ERP software.

Preferred:

  • Experience in biopharmaceutical, biotech, or regulated logistics.
  • Familiarity with temperature-controlled packaging and cold chain logistics.
  • Certifications: OSHA 10/30, GDP, or related logistics training.
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
