Position Overview
- We are seeking a
licensed Pharmacist
to provide professional pharmacy services within a federal correctional healthcare setting at the USP, Atlanta. - This role supports the medical team by ensuring safe, accurate, and compliant medication management for the inmate population.

Key Responsibilities
- Dispense and verify medications in accordance with federal and institutional standards
- Review and interpret provider orders for accuracy and appropriateness
- Provide medication counseling and collaborate with clinical staff
- Maintain accurate medication records and documentation
- Ensure compliance with all federal guidelines, safety protocols, and pharmacy regulations
- Perform medication inventory, storage management, and controlled substance oversight
- Support the Chief Pharmacist and Health Services leadership as needed
Qualifications - One of the following is required
(based on government classification requirements):
Option A – BS Pharmacy (BSPharm)
- Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy
earned prior to 2004 - Active, unrestricted U.S. pharmacist license
Option B – PharmD
- Minimum
6 years of pharmacy education
, PharmD preferred - At least
24 months of pharmacist experience - Active, unrestricted U.S. pharmacist license
Additional Requirements
- Must meet the
Department of Justice Residency Requirement
(3+ of the last 5 years in the U.S., or qualifying federal overseas criteria) - Must pass a federal background check and security clearance process
- Ability to work safely and professionally in a correctional environment
Work Schedule
- Full-time schedule (approx. 40 hours/week)
- Monday–Friday, daytime hours
- Some flexibility based on facility needs
