About You

who can step confidently into a Tech Lead role—guiding development standards, mentoring other developers, and helping shape how we build. This part-time, remote contractor role is ideal for an experienced developer who excels at writing elegant code, auditing repositories, and confidently contributing to client conversations. While the role is fully remote, availability during 8am–5pm PST is expected for team collaboration and support.

Key Responsibilities

As a Senior Developer with Tech Lead capabilities, you'll take ownership of the development side of our WordPress projects and help evolve our technical workflows. You'll work with designers, strategists, and project managers to ensure seamless delivery—from scoping through deployment.

• Lead code reviews and uphold best practices for performance, security, and maintainability
• Define and document internal development processes (CI/CD workflows, deployment protocols, GitHub standards
• Oversee and support junior developers and/or external partners
• Act as the go-to developer for both front-end and back-end needs, mainly on WordPress builds
• Provide accurate technical estimates and guidance during project scoping
• Offer emergency dev support for high-priority issues
• Collaborate cross-functionally to ensure technical feasibility, clarity and alignment
• Occasionally join client calls to provide technical insight

What We're Looking For

• 5+ years of professional experience in web development
• Expert-level proficiency in WordPress, including Gutenberg, Elementor, and custom plugin development
• Some experience with Drupal (theming, content modeling, module dev)
• Strong modern JavaScript skills (React or Vue exposure preferred)
• Proficiency with GitHub, CI/CD workflows, and deployment tools
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to coding standards
• Effective verbal and written communication skills
• Comfortable giving and receiving feedback
• Curious, collaborative, and enthusiastic about building great digital experiences
• Prior experience in an agency or fast-paced environment

Nice to Have

• Experience with Figma-to-dev handoff workflows
• Previous Tech Lead or Architect experience

Familiarity with hosting platforms and deployment pipelines (AWS, WP Engine, Pantheon, etc.)
