Premier OBGYN, a private practice serving the communities of Phoenix Arizona, is seeking a full-time Medical Assistant to join their established practice to support the growth of women's health services in the community. The medical assistant will be joining a multidisciplinary OB/GYN group consisting of OB/GYN physicians, Certified Nurse Midwives, and Nurse Practitioners. Reports to : Clinical Manager
​Job Purpose: Support all back office duties and responsibilities. Work as part of a front and back office team in collaboration with the providers and back office staff.
Duties:
- Review appointment schedule for the day
- Review charts and obtain labs and reports that are not available in the chart
- Chart management during rooming (health history and/or changes, medication reconciliation, review of allergies, pharmacy, etc.) with communication to the provider as report prior to seeing patient or per provider preferred workflow.
- Prepare the patient for their examination to include setting up for procedures (IUD insertion/removal, Nexplanon insertion/removal, colposcopy, endometrial biopsy, punch biopsy, etc) and assist providers as needed.Room and
- Management of clinic space equipment to prepare for the day and ending of the clinic day (i.e. lights, ultrasound machines, etc.). Cleaning and stocking of patient exam rooms on a daily basis to include a weekly terminal cleaning.
- Set up vaginal cultures, pap smear, GBS swab, when rooming the patient.
- Obtain vital signs: temperature and blood pressure, urine dips and document, in a timely manner.
- Performing laboratory tests like blood draws. Completes lab requisition accurately, to include correct ordering provider. Provide to phlebotomists timely and labeling of all samples not obtained by phlebotomists. Prepare to perform laboratory duties if a phlebotomist is not available.
- Place patient on NSTs (provide training)
- Prepare and administer medications and immunizations
- Support phone calls with greeting of practice name, your name and communicating if needing to place on hold.
- Ability to schedule appointments to include review of insurance, communication of practice policies regarding arrival and late policies as back-up front office support
- Protect patient's rights by maintaining confidentiality of personal, medical, and financial information per HIPAA
- Other duties as assigned
