Position Summary:
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Behavior Specialist to provide behavioral consultation and support services to adults with developmental disabilities, autism, and other behavioral challenges across various settings, including residential facilities, behavior day programs, group homes, vocational programs, and supported living services programs throughout the Foothill / Pasadena Region. The Behavior Specialist will work under the supervision of the company owner and may receive additional mentorship and guidance from a Behavior Consultant (BCBA). Your role will involve working collaboratively with clients, caregivers, support staff, and interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement behavior intervention plans to enhance the quality of life for individuals facing behavioral challenges.
Key Responsibilities:
Assessment & Data Collection: Assist in conducting behavioral assessments using standardized tools, direct observations, and interviews. Collaborate with a Behavior Consultant to gather data and inform intervention planning.
Behavior Intervention Plans (BIPs): Support the creation of individualized behavior intervention plans based on data and observations, working with clients and their teams to ensure effective, person-centered plans.
Implementation & Training: Guide caregivers and support staff in implementing behavior support strategies. Provide coaching and training to ensure consistency and understanding of recommended interventions.
Monitoring & Progress Tracking: Collect data to monitor the effectiveness of interventions, track client progress, and suggest adjustments as necessary in consultation with a Behavior Consultant.
Collaboration & Consultation: Work with a multidisciplinary team to provide a client-centered approach to care, attend meetings, and contribute to developing integrated treatment plans.
Documentation & Reporting: Ensure timely and accurate documentation of behavioral observations, session notes, progress reports, and incident reports. Assist in preparing comprehensive reports on client progress and outcomes.
Clinical Support: Demonstrate professionalism by receiving and applying feedback, addressing case-related concerns, and maintaining open communication with clients, families, and stakeholders.
Additional duties and projects as assigned.
Qualifications:
Education: Bachelor's degree in psychology, behavior analysis, special education, or a related field required.
Experience: Minimum of two years of experience in Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA).
Skills: Strong verbal and written communication, organization, and time management skills. Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and thrive in a collaborative, team-oriented environment.
Transportation: Must have reliable transportation, a valid driver's license, and current auto insurance for travel to client sites.
Work Environment:
This role involves regular travel to various client sites, including residential facilities, behavior day programs, group homes, vocational programs, and supported living services programs. The Behavior Specialist is expected to conduct the majority of consultations on-site, ensuring direct interaction and observation in the field. The position requires flexibility, as travel between locations is essential to providing personalized, hands-on behavioral support.
