About The Role
We are seeking a highly skilled Backend Engineer to join our dynamic team at Comcast, specifically working within the Universal Ads division. This role involves designing, developing, and maintaining robust API and data layer solutions that support our high-performance advertising platforms. As part of a collaborative squad of developers, you will act as a technical expert responsible for implementing scalable backend services, ensuring system stability, and integrating business and functional priorities into our applications. You will work closely with product owners and cross-functional teams to deliver innovative solutions that enhance our advertising ecosystem. The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in API development, cloud technologies, and modern frontend frameworks, with a passion for building seamless digital experiences.

Qualifications
The ideal candidate will have a minimum of 7-10 years of relevant professional experience in backend development, with a proven track record of managing customer-facing APIs. A bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field is preferred, though extensive hands-on experience and coursework may be considered. Candidates should demonstrate expertise in Python programming, AWS cloud services, and modern frontend frameworks such as and React. Strong analytical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the capacity to work independently and within a team environment are essential. Familiarity with API design principles, Docker, Git, and automation testing will be advantageous. Candidates should also possess excellent communication skills and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Responsibilities
Analyze user and product requirements to design efficient system workflows and processes that align with business goals.

Develop and optimize data storage models based on functional specifications to ensure data integrity and performance.

Define API access patterns, service integration touchpoints, and ensure seamless communication between front-end and back-end systems.

Collaborate with quality assurance teams to document integration procedures and develop comprehensive test plans.

Implement new features and functionalities following the software development lifecycle, ensuring code quality and maintainability.

Create and run automated integration tests with every code commit to maintain system stability.

Automate service consumption processes to improve efficiency and reduce manual intervention.

Configure and iterate on system parameters to optimize software and service performance.

Build and maintain monitoring, alerting, and logging systems for live APIs and services to ensure high availability and quick issue resolution.

Perform repairs, restorations, and optimizations of backend services to uphold operational stability.

Work closely with security teams to implement best practices, close vulnerabilities, and ensure compliance with security standards.

Document defect reports and enhancement requests in the issue management system, tracking progress and resolutions.

Exercise independent judgment and discretion in handling complex technical challenges.

Maintain consistent attendance and flexibility to work nights, weekends, or variable schedules as necessary.

Participate actively in team initiatives, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, inclusion, and customer focus.
