Smart Blind Design is a boutique luxury window treatment showroom specializing in custom interior and exterior solutions, including automated window coverings, custom drapery, outdoor shades, pergolas, awnings, and architectural shading systems. As an authorized Hunter Douglas dealer, we serve discerning homeowners, interior designers, architects, and builders throughout lower Westchester County, NY and Fairfield County, CT. Our clients' homes often represent significant investments, and professionalism, discretion, and organization are essential.
About the Owners
Smart Blind Design is owned and operated by Christian and Abigail, a husband-and-wife team who are deeply involved in the business and work closely with their team. Their backgrounds include accounting, IT, entrepreneurship, creative arts, event planning, and animal science. They share a deep interest in biblical history and volunteer with educational initiatives at The Metropolitan Museum of Art.
The company operates with a warm, family-like culture while maintaining high professional standards, clear accountability, and a strong focus on long-term relationships. This role works directly with ownership and is ideal for someone who enjoys responsibility, structure, and being a trusted contributor in a small, well-run business.
Schedule (Non-Negotiable)
Monday–Friday, 9:30 a.m.–5:30 p.m.
Showroom hours are 10:00 a.m.–5:00 p.m.
The showroom remains open during lunch; employees bring lunch or order delivery.
Compensation & Growth Path
This role begins with a 90-day introductory evaluation period paid at $22 per hour. Upon successful completion, the position transitions to a full-time salaried role with an initial annual salary of $52,000. Performance reviews are conducted every six months, and salary increases are awarded based on performance, contribution, and growth in responsibility. Beginning in year two, eligible employees may be considered for profit-sharing opportunities, retirement benefits, and expanded leadership responsibilities.
Time Off & Holidays
After the introductory period, employees receive approximately 16 paid, company-approved days off per year, consisting of 6 paid holidays (New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, and Christmas Day) and up to 10 PTO days for vacation, personal days, or illness.
Smart Blind Design also observes a planned company-wide winter closure of two full weeks around Christmas and New Year's. The majority of this closure is unpaid. Christmas Day and New Year's Day are paid holidays and are not counted as part of the unpaid closure. PTO is not required during the closure.
Role Overview
The Showroom Coordinator & Client Experience Manager is responsible for running the showroom day-to-day and ensuring that every client, designer, vendor, and installer experiences Smart Blind Design as organized, professional, discreet, and trustworthy. You are the first impression, the central communicator, and a key contributor to operational clarity, sales support, and long-term growth.
Each team member is expected to contribute meaningful value to the business through reliability, efficiency, and a proactive approach to their role.
Product Expertise & Training Expectations
This role requires developing expert-level knowledge of Smart Blind Design's offerings. The showroom coordinator is expected to become deeply knowledgeable and confident in explaining Hunter Douglas window treatments, custom drapery, manual and motorized shades, outdoor shades, pergolas, awnings, and related systems. Training is provided through a combination of online programs and in-person instruction.
The individual in this role must confidently convey that Smart Blind Design is the expert choice for luxury homes. This includes learning window treatment motorization, Hunter Douglas automation systems, and the apps used to control these products, and explaining them clearly to clients.
Core Responsibilities
Open and prepare the showroom daily and close and secure it each evening. Greet walk-in clients and conduct showroom tours. Answer phones, emails, texts, and website inquiries promptly. Handle follow-up customer inquiries with professionalism and discretion. Schedule consultations, installations, and service calls. Assist the sales team with quotes, proposals, and documentation. Track leads, orders, shipments, and service requests in the CRM. Coordinate with sales, installers, vendors, designers, and clients. Maintain an immaculate showroom, kitchen, and bathroom. Take out trash daily (mandatory). Keep storage and back-of-house areas organized and perform light exterior storefront upkeep.
Sample Weekly Rhythm
Monday: Attend staff meeting, present new orders to installers, review new leads, confirm all leads have been contacted and scheduled.
Tuesday: Review every open order, confirm all line items are ordered, contact vendors to verify status and delivery dates.
Wednesday: Review unpaid balances and open issues, contact clients to collect
