Job Overview
The Bad Seed, Spokane's haunted library Tex-Mex eatery, is looking for an experienced line cook to oversee our kitchen operations. We're working in a small, all-electric kitchen, smoke our own meats, and we make everything from scratch. An ideal candidate will have leadership skills and a passion for food, ensuring that our kitchen delivers exceptional food while maintaining high standards of food safety and quality.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a small kitchen staff, fostering a positive team environment.
  • Oversee food preparation and cooking processes to ensure quality and consistency in all dishes served.
  • Maintain inventory control, including ordering and managing stock levels to minimize waste.
  • Implement and uphold food safety standards in compliance with health regulations.
  • Train new staff members on kitchen procedures and food handling techniques.
  • Conduct regular performance evaluations for kitchen staff and provide constructive feedback.
  • Collaborate with owner on budget and cost control measures to optimize kitchen operations.
  • Ensure all equipment is maintained in good working condition and report any issues promptly.
  • Manage schedules to ensure adequate staffing while maintaining operational efficiency.

Experience

  • Line cook experience in a high volume restaurant setting is essential; fine dining experience is a plus.
  • Background in food service management, including supervising experience in a kitchen environment.
  • Familiarity with culinary techniques and food production methods.
  • Ability to operate and maintain pellet smokers and Chile roaster.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $ $24.00 per hour

Expected hours: 35 – 40 per week
