Job Overview: Ugly Dumpling is seeking dependable and hardworking Kitchen Porters to join our team at our Morris Plains, NJ location The Kitchen Porter plays a vital role in maintaining a clean, efficient, and organized kitchen environment. You'll support the chefs and kitchen staff by ensuring cleanliness, assisting with basic prep tasks, and helping keep operations running smoothly. This role is perfect for someone who thrives in a fast-paced setting and takes pride in behind-the-scenes work that makes a big impact.

Key Responsibilities:

• Cleaning & Sanitizing: Maintain cleanliness throughout the kitchen, including work surfaces, equipment, floors, and walls. Ensure dishes, utensils, and cookware are washed and sanitized promptly.
• Dishwashing: Operate commercial dishwashers, hand-wash delicate items, and ensure clean dishes are always available for service.
• Waste Management: Empty bins regularly, handle waste disposal properly, and ensure recycling and garbage areas remain tidy.
• Basic Food Prep: Assist with light food preparation tasks such as peeling, chopping, or portioning under the direction of kitchen staff.
• Stock & Supplies: Unload deliveries and organize stock in fridges, freezers, and dry storage. Restock cleaning and kitchen supplies as needed.
• Health & Safety: Follow all hygiene, health, and safety standards, including proper handling and storage of kitchen equipment and food items.
• Team Support: Work collaboratively with chefs and front-of-house staff to ensure a smooth and efficient kitchen operation.

Requirements:

• Experience: Previous experience in a kitchen or cleaning role is preferred but not required
• Skills: Strong attention to detail, time management, and the ability to stay focused in a busy kitchen environment.
• Physical Demands: Must be able to stand for long periods, lift up to 25 lbs, and work in a fast paced environment.
• Availability: Flexible availability, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as required.
