About Reflection Ministries

Reflection is a four-year program that supports survivors of human trafficking as they rebuild their lives. We provide crisis stabilization, second-stage homes, and structured aftercare, along with medical care, therapeutic support, life-skills training, and education opportunities. Our goal is to walk with survivors through each step of a comprehensive continuum of care so they can move toward stability, independence, and true freedom.

Position Overview

Reflection Ministries is seeking Teacher's Assistants who are supportive, organized, and adaptable. This role helps educators ensure survivors receive the academic support they need to move forward. Teacher's Assistants help maintain a calm, structured, and encouraging learning environment in the classroom, study labs, and during college courses.

Flexibility is important. You may support class sessions, provide one-on-one tutoring, accompany survivors to college classes, assist with supplemental assignments, or step in as a substitute educator when needed. This role is part of a team that shows up with compassion, clarity, and consistency each day.

What You Will Do

  • Accompany survivors to college classes and provide in-class support when needed
  • Step in as a substitute educator in the event of staff absences
  • Help create and organize supplemental educational materials
  • Maintain organized records, documents, and classroom materials
  • Use computer programs, learning platforms, and digital tools to support instruction
  • Encourage consistency, confidence-building, and a positive learning environment
  • Collaborate with educators and program staff to support individualized learning goals

What We Look For

  • High school diploma or equivalent (some college or education-related coursework preferred)
  • Experience in tutoring, education, or working with learners is helpful
  • Strong organizational skills and proficiency with basic computer programs
  • Clear communication and the ability to maintain healthy, professional boundaries
  • Reliability, flexibility, and a willingness to support varied educational needs
  • Must pass a background check
  • Valid driver license, reliable transportation (personal vehicle), and current insurance

Skills

  • Strong understanding of trauma-informed care and best practices in education settings.
  • Knowledge of classroom management techniques that promote positive behavior and engagement.
  • Ability to provide nurturing care for survivors while maintaining accountability with patience and empathy.
  • Familiarity with special education needs and working with disabilities or developmental delays.
  • Certification or training in first aid and CPR is highly desirable; willingness to obtain if not already certified.
  • Excellent communication skills for collaborating with educators and team members effectively.
  • Ability to adapt activities for survivors with diverse abilities and learning styles.
  • Experience with behavior management strategies that promote respectful interactions and social-emotional growth.
