About
Position Summary
Maintain plant production and facility equipment and processes to maximize equipment uptime and minimize work stoppages due to equipment or process failures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Operate within the budgeted financial plan.
- Ensure compliance to Quality System Regulations related to areas of responsibility.
- Ensure the maintenance manpower works as a coordinated team player with the production and support organizations to achieve the plant's production plan.
- Follow and enforce safety regulations.
- Update maintenance BOPs as needed and ensure the organization is meeting the requirements of the BOPs.
- Provide plant management with effective planning for future production and facility's maintenance activities and financial needs.
- Plan and execute plant shutdown activities.
- Coordinate the activities of the contract housekeeping organization if applicable.
- Ensure that personnel are trained to do the job they are performing and that the training is documented.
- Coordinate spare parts and mechanic training requirements on new production and / or facility equipment.
- Update and maintain preventative maintenance work requirements for production and facility equipment.
- Participate in and support cost reduction programs.
- Provide leadership, planning and consulting to the plant Emergency Response Team.
- Ensure the Machine Specialist program is effective and that the mechanic mentors follow through with the assessments and the documentation of On the Job mentoring records.
- Schedule, plan, and coordinate the activities of the maintenance personnel in the organization.
- Provide effective communication to upper management on maintenance related issues.
Knowledge, Skills & Qualifications
- Manufacturing support position with demonstrated leadership qualities or supervisory experience. Strong mechanical aptitude needed. Preferred areas of study or experience from a technical area, preferably engineering or maintenance.
- Budgetary responsibility for production and / or facility's maintenance organization.
- Planning responsibility for a preventative maintenance program.
- Management and supervision of a production or facility maintenance organization consisting of some or all of the following: supervisors, leads, tradesmen, and housekeepers on a three shift operation.
- Coordination of work activity with contractors as appropriate.
- Compliance with Division and Corporate quality and engineering standards.
- Compliance with federal, state, and local regulations and laws especially those related to OSHA, EPA, and building codes..
- Coordination of activities with the production and support organizations being serviced.
- Coordinator and / or participant on the plant Emergency Response Team

Education and Experience
High school graduate required; bachelor degree from an accredited institution preferred
Minimum Qualifications
- Must be 18 years of age
- Must pass pre-employment drug screen and background check

- Typically requires travel less than 25% of the time
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
