About

About EDDY Pump

EDDY Pump is an industry leader in slurry pumps, dredging equipment, and engineered pumping solutions serving mining, oil & gas, wastewater, marine construction, and defense. We design and build heavy‑duty equipment that handles high solids and abrasive slurries where conventional pumps fail. With manufacturing in the U.S. and Mexico and projects worldwide, we're growing our field sales team.

Role Overview

We are hiring an Outside Pump Sales Engineer to own a territory, drive new business, and expand key accounts across rental and capital equipment. You'll combine hands‑on application engineering (sizing, selection, and troubleshooting) with hunter‑style field sales (site visits, demos, trials). You'll work closely with applications engineering, service, and supply chain to deliver reliable solutions and keep customers running.

What You'll Do

  • Build and execute a territory plan targeting mining, dredging, industrial construction, wastewater, power, and marine customers.
  • Qualify opportunities, conduct site surveys, and lead application discovery (fluid properties, % solids, particle size, SG/viscosity, TDH, NPSHa/NPSHr, duty cycle).
  • Size and select pumps, power units, and accessories (diesel/electric/hydraulic, VFDs, hoses, floats, HDPE pipe, valves, monitoring).
  • Prepare quotes, proposals, ROI/production estimates (GPM, CY/hr), and rental agreements; respond to RFQs and contractor bid packages.
  • Run and support demos/trials; coordinate commissioning and operator training with service.
  • Manage distributors/partners; develop EPC and contractor relationships and spec‑in opportunities.
  • Maintain CRM hygiene (pipeline, activities, win/loss); forecast bookings and margin.
  • Champion the voice of the customer back to engineering (design feedback, materials of construction, wear‑parts, serviceability).
  • Represent EDDY Pump at trade shows, lunch‑and‑learns, and industry events.

What You Bring

  • 3–7+ years of outside sales or applications experience with industrial pumps/rotating equipment (slurry or dredging strongly preferred).
  • Working knowledge of pump curves, system curves, NPSH, TDH, cavitation, materials of construction (Ni‑Hard, high‑chrome, rubber‑lined, CD4MCuN), and sealing options.
  • Comfortable on jobsites—troubleshooting suction/discharge setups, priming, entrained air, rakes/strainers, and solids handling.
  • Strong commercial skills: prospecting, territory management, negotiating rental vs. purchase, distributor/channel development.
  • Proficiency with CRM (Salesforce/HubSpot), Excel/Sheets for calcs, and basic CAD markups or P&IDs a plus.
  • Excellent communication; ability to create clear proposals and present to field crews and executives.
  • Bachelor's in Mechanical/Industrial Engineering or equivalent experience (preferred).
  • Bilingual English/Spanish a plus.

Success Metrics (KPIs)

  • New bookings and gross margin by product line (pumps, power units, dredge attachments, rentals, spares).
  • Pipeline coverage (≥3× quarterly quota) and quote‑to‑close rate.
  • Time‑to‑first order for new accounts; trial‑to‑conversion rate.
  • Customer retention and aftermarket pull‑through (wear parts, service).

30/60/90 Day Plan

  • 30 days: Ramp on product/application training; shadow site visits; load territory accounts into CRM; prioritize top 50 targets.
  • 60 days: Run solo discovery calls and site surveys; deliver first five sized/quoted packages; schedule two demos/trials.
  • 90 days: Close first new‑logo orders; establish distributor rhythm (joint calls, pipeline reviews); present QBR with bookings forecast.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary + uncapped commission (OTE dependent on territory and experience).
  • Vehicle/allowance, travel card, per diem; phone/laptop provided.
  • Medical, dental, vision, 401(k), PTO/holidays.
  • Training, field support, and rapid advancement in a growing organization.
