Key Responsibilities

Machine Operation & Setup

  • Set up and operate Komax automated wire processing machines (cut, strip, crimp, tin, seal insertion, etc.).
  • Load wire, terminals, applicators, and tooling according to job specifications.
  • Adjust machine parameters for length, strip dimensions, crimp height, pull force, and other required settings.
  • Perform first-article inspections to verify correct setup and quality.

Quality Control

  • Inspect processed wires for defects such as incorrect lengths, poor crimps, insulation damage, or terminal misalignment.
  • Use measurement tools including micrometers, calipers, crimp height micrometers, and pull testers.
  • Document results and maintain traceability per work instructions and quality standards (e.g., IPC/WHMA-A-620).

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

  • Perform basic machine maintenance and cleaning to ensure optimal performance.
  • Troubleshoot minor mechanical issues, misfeeds, or crimping inconsistencies.
  • Report machine malfunctions or required repairs to maintenance or supervision.

Production & Documentation

  • Follow work orders, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  • Meet daily production goals while maintaining high quality.
  • Accurately record production output, scrap, and material usage.
  • Maintain proper handling of materials, tooling, and terminals.

Safety & Compliance

  • Follow all safety protocols while operating automated machinery.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area (5S environment).
  • Ensure compliance with company policies, ISO/AS standards, and customer requirements.

Required Qualifications

  • 4-6 years of experience operating Komax, Schleuniger, or similar automated wire processing equipment.
  • Knowledge of wire harness manufacturing and electrical component assembly.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, work instructions, and specifications.
  • Familiarity with IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards (preferred).
  • Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand for extended periods.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Previous experience in automotive, aerospace, industrial wiring, or electronics manufacturing.
  • Experience with crimp force monitoring (CFM) systems.
  • Proficiency with SPC, quality reporting, or MES systems.
  • Ability to train others on machine operation.

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing/production floor setting.
  • Exposure to moderate noise and moving machinery.
  • Required use of PPE as directed (safety glasses, gloves, etc.).
  • Lift 50 lbs
  • Stand for long periods of time

Pay Range (Massachusetts): $ $31.08 per hour. This range reflects the expected base pay for this position in Massachusetts and is based on internal equity and the established job family compensation structure. Actual compensation may vary based on experience, qualifications, and performance.
