We are seeking a diligent and reliable Material Handler to join our logistics team in Portland, Oregon. In this role, you will be responsible for the efficient and safe movement of materials within our warehouse. Your duties will include receiving, identifying, storing, and distributing a variety of goods. A strong understanding of warehouse safety procedures, including proper lifting techniques and the use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), is crucial. You will operate material handling equipment such as pallet jacks and forklifts (if certified and trained) to transport items. Responsibilities:
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming materials and shipments.
- Sort and identify materials, ensuring accurate labeling and put-away.
- Transport materials to and from storage locations, production areas, or shipping docks.
- Load and unload trucks and containers safely and efficiently.
- Maintain an organized and clean work area, ensuring compliance with safety regulations.
- Perform routine checks on material handling equipment and report any maintenance needs.
- Adhere strictly to all company safety policies and procedures, including the mandatory use of PPE.
- Assist with inventory management, including cycle counting and stock verification.
- Follow specific instructions for handling different types of materials and products.
- Collaborate with team members and supervisors to achieve operational goals.
Requirements:
- Ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including lifting up to 50 lbs, bending, stooping, and standing for prolonged periods.
- Demonstrated ability to work safely and efficiently in a warehouse environment.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Good communication and interpersonal skills.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar logistics role is preferred.
- Willingness to learn and operate various types of material handling equipment.
- Commitment to safety protocols and consistent use of required PPE.
- Reliable attendance and punctuality.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
