Every project we construct represents a story—of the individuals, organizations, and communities it will serve. We're dedicated to innovation, collaboration, and delivering lasting spaces that make a difference.
How you'll contribute…
Boyd Jones is looking for a Safety Manager to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to ensure compliance with safety regulations, prevent injuries, and mitigate hazards throughout all phases of our projects. The role involves conducting site inspections, delivering safety training, investigating incidents, and promoting a safe work environment for all team members.
Key Responsibilities…
Develop, implement, and maintain site-specific safety plans, procedures, and project startup/closeout safety documentation in alignment with company standards and client requirements.
Conduct regular safety audits, inspections, lift plan reviews, JHA evaluations, excavation permit reviews, and oversight of high-risk work activities, ensuring hazards are identified and corrective actions are implemented promptly.
Organize, lead, and document safety training sessions for all personnel—including subcontractors and visitors—to ensure understanding of safety protocols, emergency procedures, and project-specific requirements.
Monitor and enforce compliance with company, client, and regulatory safety policies; address non-compliance issues promptly through coaching, corrective actions, and follow-up.
Maintain high field visibility on active job sites to conduct inspections, provide real-time coaching, observe work behaviors, and engage with crews to promote a safety-first culture.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all safety-related matters, liaising with project leadership, subcontractors, regulatory agencies, and other stakeholders.
Investigate accidents, incidents, and near-misses; document findings, track corrective actions, and recommend improvements to prevent recurrence.
Prepare accurate and timely safety documentation, including incident reports, training logs, daily/weekly inspections, OSHA-required records, corrective action tracking, and weekly/monthly safety reports.
Coordinate with subcontractors on safety expectations, performance reviews, pre-task planning, compliance checks, performance scoring, and continuous improvement initiatives.
Mentor and support Safety Specialists, providing guidance for daily tasks, professional development, and field performance.
Support environmental compliance requirements, including SWPPP inspections, BMP monitoring, waste management documentation, hazardous material handling, and corrective action oversight.
Participate in project leadership meetings, preconstruction risk assessments, planning sessions, and schedule reviews to ensure safety controls are incorporated early and consistently throughout execution.
Contribute to leading indicator programs through hazard identification, coaching interactions, observation logs, and participation-based safety metrics.
Support emergency response readiness, including severe weather planning, jobsite evacuation procedures, and coordination during emergency events.
Ensure appropriate availability, use, and maintenance of safety equipment, signage, and PPE.
Perform other safety-related duties as assigned.
