Position Summary

Powers & Sons Construction is seeking an Assistant Superintendent to support field operations on commercial construction projects. This role provides hands-on experience in all aspects of jobsite management while working under the guidance of experienced superintendents. The Assistant Superintendent will help coordinate daily activities, ensure safety compliance, and learn the skills necessary to advance into a full Superintendent role.

Key Responsibilities

Field Operations Support

  • Assist in coordinating daily construction activities and trade schedules
  • Help monitor subcontractor work for quality and progress
  • Support material deliveries and equipment coordination
  • Conduct site walks and document project progress through photos and reports
  • Assist with layout and surveying activities as needed
  • Help resolve minor field issues and coordinate solutions with superintendent

Safety and Compliance

  • Support daily safety inspections and hazard identification
  • Participate in safety meetings and toolbox talks
  • Ensure workers have proper PPE and follow safety protocols
  • Help maintain clean and organized job sites
  • Assist with completing safety documentation and incident reports

Quality Control and Documentation

  • Monitor work for compliance with plans and specifications
  • Help track and document daily activities, labor, and equipment usage
  • Assist with punch list development and completion tracking
  • Support RFI and submittal processes
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation

Communication and Learning

  • Communicate with subcontractors regarding schedules and project requirements
  • Support coordination between field and office teams
  • Participate in project meetings and pre-construction planning
  • Learn construction methods, scheduling, and project management techniques
  • Build relationships with trade partners and project stakeholders

Qualifications

  • Associate's or bachelor's degree in construction management or related field preferred, or equivalent experience
  • 3+ years of construction experience
  • Basic understanding of construction methods and building processes
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications
  • OSHA 10-Hour certification required or must obtain within 30 days
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to learn
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proficiency with basic computer software and mobile technology
  • Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work outdoors in various weather conditions
  • Capable of walking job sites, climbing ladders, and navigating uneven terrain
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds occasionally
  • Must be able to work extended hours as project demands require
