The Senior Manager, Data Systems builds scalable data models, cleans and transforms data, and deploys data visualizations, reports, and dashboards that provide key insights to the organization for fundraising success. The Senior Analyst is a data storyteller that conducts descriptive, exploratory, and predictive data analyses. Additionally, the Senior Manager, Data Systems will work directly with the Senior Director, Finance and Operations, the Associate Director of Prospect Management, as well as the Manager, Data Systems to ensure that prospect and donor data is properly maintained and coded within our current CRM to produce improved reports highlighting fundraising KPIs and performance metrics that will help inform development leaders' strategies.
QUALIFICATIONS:EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and experience required.
- Seven or more years of database administration/management with focus in data analytics, modeling, reporting specific to non-profit fundraising or development required.
- Experience with Raiser's Edge or Crystal Reports required.
- Experience working in non-profit educational or cultural organizations preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, ABILITIES:
- Strong grasp of technology in this position with capacity to identify opportunities for improved data quality, strategies to reduce data errors, manage cross-departmental collaboration, and provide strategic guidance on CRM/Database best practices.
- Strong analytical skills.
- Microsoft Power BI Dashboards: design and implementation.
- SQL experience preferred.
- Understanding of ETL/Data Warehousing preferred.
- Proficiency in a statistical programming language (R/Python) a plus.
- Experience with Tessitura a plus
- Comfortable working independently and in a team environment to execute assigned deliverables in a prompt and efficient manner.
- Excellent communication skills; diplomacy and persuasive abilities.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
- Work is primarily sedentary in nature; no special demands are required.
PRINCIPAL ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Work with museum leadership to create a data driven narrative to share with stakeholders.
- Ensure that the strategic plan, performance measurement reports, analytical insights and other resources are communicated across the organization.
- Uses qualitative and quantitative data to monitor progress, identify trends and derive insights about the organization's performance.
- Co-develop and present creative solutions to communicate complex data and research findings through visualizations, presentations, and infographics.
- Primarily responsible for the overall data management across Development systems and Development teams, which will include system migration over the next 24 months.
- As part of Tessitura implementation: assisting, advising, recording and setting up new system structures, particularly for complex membership and fundraising data, and for financial processes and reporting
- Directs the overall architecture of CRM systems for the Development teams.
- Oversees the existing dashboard landscape in Power BI through data deployment models, creating and editing dashboards, connecting data from SQL Server databases. Extracts, transforms, loads, validates, models, analyzes, reports, and visualizes data.
- Creates Power BI deployment models and dashboards, connecting data from SQL Server databases.
- Conducts load testing on Power BI dashboards. Troubleshooting performance bottlenecks.
- Empowers fundraising teams by translating requirements into dashboards and reports that provide key insights and help to measure the effectiveness of the museum's fundraising operations
- Evaluates historical fundraising performance and forecast future performance.
- Co-Manages with Associate Director, Prospect Management processes related to developing dynamic museum fundraising plans and ensuring that data is accurately translated into KPI dashboards.
- Co-design with Associate Director Prospect Manager and Data Manager develop data systems, workflows, and processes that are relevant and actionable for teams across the department to continuously improve and evaluate impact
- In partnership with leadership, identifies what ifs and improvement opportunities and subsequently perform analysis to quantify and validate.
- Other duties as assigned.
