JOB OVERVIEW
This role produces high-quality visuals, directs photoshoots, creates short-form video, designs web elements, and provides data-informed creative insights through performance trends. This position blends creativity, UX awareness, product expertise, and analytical thinking to ensure the brand remains competitive, consistent, conversion-focused, and in alignment with strategic direction.
In addition, the Creative Content Specialist supports lifecycle marketing by designing and updating visual assets, layout concepts, and creative elements for email flows and automations, ensuring they remain current, accurate, and conversion-focused.
This role supports the Head of Marketing and Brand Strategy to deliver campaign-ready assets, website updates and product stories that are accurate, visually strong, innovative and optimized to strengthen customer trust & customer engagement and improve conversion.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Creative Leadership and Production
- Produce creative assets for email, SMS, social, campaigns, landing pages, and product features.
- Create platform-optimized variations for Meta, TikTok, Pinterest, and a Shopify website.
- Develop creative templates, design systems, and reusable asset libraries.
- Maintain consistent visual standards across all customer touchpoints.
Email Flows and Automations Support
- Design updated creative elements for lifecycle flows and automations.
- Refresh visuals and storytelling for welcome series, post-purchase flows, winbacks, browse abandonments, and similar automations.
- Ensure creative aligns with product positioning, seasonal priorities, and customer behavior insights.
Website and Digital Experience Support
- Collaborate on website layouts, landing page design, and visual merchandising updates.
- Create on-site graphics, promotional banners, and product and service education visuals.
- Ensure web visuals support mobile-first design, readability, and conversion-focused UX.
- Recommend UX-driven creative adjustments that increase engagement and reduce friction.
- Present findings through simple, visual summaries for the Head of Marketing and Brand Strategy and the COO.
Photoshoot Direction
- Plan, organize, and lead brand photoshoots from concept to execution.
- Build shot lists based on product knowledge and campaign direction.
- Coordinate model styling, photography, and on-set creative decisions.
- Oversee image selection, editing direction, and final asset delivery.
Video and Motion Content
- Create short-form video content, GIFs, and motion graphics to support storytelling.
- Develop storyboards and collaborate on scripts for video content.
- Test and iterate video formats to improve content performance.
Creative Data and Insight Reporting
- Review creative performance data and identify patterns.
- Build visual summaries of creative insights for the Head of Marketing and Brand Strategy.
- Recommend creative adjustments based on product performance and customer behavior.
Product Knowledge
- Maintain a strong understanding of all products, including materials, fit, sizing, and customer use cases.
- Use product knowledge to create accurate visuals and compelling product-forward content.
- Produce educational creative assets that support customer decision-making.
Trend and Competitive Awareness
- Track trends in design, photography, social content, and visual communication.
- Recommend new content formats, design approaches, and visual styles.
Support and Collaboration
- Provide creative solutions for upcoming campaigns and brand needs.
- Ensure timing and asset delivery align.
- Support copywriting and scripting as needed.
- Assist the Head of Marketing and Brand Strategy in translating strategy into visual execution.
HYBRID-REMOTE JOB CLASSIFICATION
This position is considered hybrid-remote. More than 50% of the workload is expected to be performed from the employee's primary residence located in the state of Iowa. The remaining workload will be performed at any of the following:
- Our fulfillment warehouse located in Cedar Rapids.
- On-site at a location photoshoot, photography studio, or other centralized meeting place anywhere within the Cedar Rapids - Iowa City corridor.
- Occasional required travel outside the state of Iowa for events.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS
- Reliable transportation to and from the work site, whether at the Cedar Rapids warehouse or on location.
- Ability to travel for multiple days at a time up to twice per year.
- Ability to work on weekend days occasionally for special events - expected to be 3 or fewer times per year.
- Demonstrated experience in content creation, social media content development, and/or digital design.
- Demonstrated ability to create original photo, video, and graphic assets for social media without relying on AI tools.
- Proficient in Canva, Adobe, or equivalent software tools.
- Comfortable producing short-form videos, including concepting, filming, and editing.
- Strong design instincts across composition, color, and typography.
- Understanding of file formats, sizing, and specs for TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest, Meta, and email.

- Willingness to study and understand barefoot footwear, key product differences, and customer pain points and to apply this knowledge to creative decisions.
Preferred qualifications (not required)
- Ability to plan and execute product photography that reflects brand guidelines.
- Strong copywriting skills with the ability to match the Anya's Shop voice across platforms.
- Prior experience with Shopify and Sprout Social software is preferred but not required. Comparable equivalent experience with other e-commerce or content planning software will also be considered.
