CNC Operator Level 1 – Job Description:
We are looking for a CNC level one operator who works collaboratively with a team and will be responsible for operating and maintaining computer numerically controlled (CNC) machines to produce high-quality parts and components in a manufacturing environment. This role will interact with on-site customer representatives and work closely with other departments as needed. Successful candidates will have a strong understanding of equipment, operational procedures and relevant standards.
Work Environment: Factory setting. Safety gear is always required on the manufacturing floor.
Reporting Structure: Reports to the Fabrication Supervisor.
CNC Operator Level 1 Duties and Responsibilities:
- Monitoring production processes to ensure compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Machine Operation: Operate and monitor CNC machines to perform tasks such as drilling, milling, and taping.
- Blueprint Interpretation: Read and interpret technical documents, blueprints, and CAD drawings to understand specifications and requirements for production.
- Ability to follow a PMCS (Checklist.) Including Lubrication Levels, Tooling, Cleanliness.
- Inspect all material: Raw & finished material for any damage before starting equipment.
- Ability to monitor equipment such as Tooling, Hole diameters, Shifts in program, & depth.
- Collaborating with other departments to establish quality assurance standards and objectives.
- Ensuring products meet customer expectations and specifications.
- Additional tasks may be required by Operations Management.
- Ability to read and use dial calipers & micromotors to check tolerances provided by our customer.
- Works to maintain a strong relationship with functional support groups to ensure all activity is compliant and conforms to Customer Guidelines including detailed reports on all parts in relation to each project.
- Performs escalated expediting when required to ensure on time delivery of material.
- Utilizing various inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, thread gauges, checks dimensions/processes on parts or raw material to ensure compliance to manufacturing drawings/blueprints/specifications.
- Ability to follow chain of command.

CNC Operator Level 1 Qualifications / Skills:
- Ability to stand, walk, and bend for many hours
- Proven experience as a CNC operator or relevant role
- Thorough knowledge of quality control standards and testing methodologies
- Experience in reporting on key metrics
- Excellent numerical skills and understanding of data analysis/statistical methods
- Outstanding communication skills
- Great attention to detail and a results-driven approach
- Must be able to work from blueprints for visual dimensional inspection of purchased or manufactured products utilizing measuring instruments
- Technical Skills: Strong understanding of CNC machinery, programming, and machining processes. Ability to use measuring tools and equipment.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes and quality control standards to ensure consistent product quality.
- Exceptional analytical skills to identify, investigate, and resolve product quality issues, implementing corrective actions if necessary.
- Exceptional communication skills to articulate quality standards, procedures, and issues to all team members, as well as liaise effectively with suppliers and customers.
- Ability to handle multiple tasks and projects simultaneously, applying excellent time management and organizational skills.
- Competence in using quality inspection tools, statistical analysis, and other data analysis methods to monitor, measure, and improve product quality.
- Problem-solving skills to quickly identify and resolve quality issues, minimizing their impact on production and customer satisfaction.
