We are looking for a dependable and physically fit Material Handler to join our warehouse team in Grand Rapids, Michigan. This role is fundamental to our daily operations, ensuring the smooth movement of materials throughout the facility. You will be responsible for loading and unloading trucks, operating material handling equipment (such as forklifts, pallet jacks, and hand trucks), and stocking inventory in designated areas. The ideal candidate will have a strong work ethic, excellent attention to detail, and a commitment to safety. This position requires the ability to perform strenuous physical tasks, including significant lifting, and proficiency in operating various types of warehouse machinery. Understanding of logistics principles and warehouse flow is beneficial. Responsibilities:
- Load and unload materials from trucks and containers.
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other material handling equipment safely and efficiently.
- Move materials to and from production, storage, and shipping areas.
- Receive and inspect incoming materials for damage and accuracy.
- Stock inventory in appropriate locations and maintain organization.
- Assist with order picking and packing as needed.
- Perform routine equipment checks and report any maintenance issues.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including the use of PPE.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Contribute to overall warehouse efficiency and logistics flow.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role.
- Valid forklift certification is a plus.
- Ability to perform heavy lifting (up to 70 lbs).
- Knowledge of warehouse safety procedures and PPE.
- Basic understanding of logistics and inventory control.
- Reliable and punctual with a strong attendance record.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Good physical stamina and dexterity.
