Sathya Sai School of Toronto-Canada is an independent, non-denominational elementary school registered with the Ontario Ministry of Education. The school was established in 2000 to provide a balance between academic excellence and character development. The school's programs combine challenging academic work with inspiring school events, including local, national, and international service activities.

Sathya Sai School of Toronto is seeking a qualified and collaborative Designated Early Childhood Educator (DECE) to join the Kindergarten team for the school year.

The DECE will work in partnership with the classroom teacher to plan and implement a high-quality Full-Day Kindergarten program that supports the physical, cognitive, emotional, social, and spiritual development of each child. The program integrates the Ontario Kindergarten Program and the school's focus on Human Values Education (Truth, Right Conduct, Peace, Love, Non-Violence).

Responsibilities include:

  • Co-plan and co-deliver, in partnership with the classroom teacher, play-based and inquiry-driven learning experiences that reflect the Four Frames of the Ontario Kindergarten Program and incorporate Human Values Education.
  • Observe, monitor, and document children's learning and development using appropriate pedagogical documentation practices.
  • Maintain a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment
  • Support the development of children's self-regulation, problem-solving skills, and social-emotional growth
  • Communicate clearly and respectfully with students, families, and staff members
  • Supervise and support children's routines, including nutrition breaks, dressing, toileting, outdoor play, and rest periods
  • Participate in school-wide activities and professional development related to Human Values Education and early childhood education
  • Adhere to school policies, the expectations of the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE), and all applicable legislation

Qualifications & Skills:

  • Diploma in Early Childhood Education and registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (CECE)
  • Experience working in Kindergarten or early years educational settings
  • Knowledge of child development, play-based and inquiry-based learning approaches, and Human Values integration
  • Strong collaboration, communication, and organizational skills
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C certification
  • Current Vulnerable Sector Screening (dated within 6 months)
  • Interest in contributing to the school's mission of academic excellence and character development through Human Values Education

The successful candidate must be a role model for students and exemplify positive values, namely being truthful, dutiful, peaceful, loving, and non-violent in their thinking, speaking, and actions.

Pay: $37,000.00-$39,000.00 per year
