About the Role The Financial Data Analyst position at HAYS offers a unique opportunity to contribute to a leading manufacturing organization based in Milton Keynes. This role is designed for a technically proficient finance professional who excels in data analysis, automation, and financial planning and analysis (FP&A). You will be instrumental in transforming financial reporting processes by developing automated solutions that enhance accuracy, efficiency, and strategic decision‑making.
Your responsibilities will include consolidating data from various sources such as ERP systems, spreadsheets, and operational databases to create structured datasets that facilitate accurate forecasting, budgeting, and performance analysis. As a key member of the finance team, you will develop dynamic dashboards and reports that provide senior stakeholders with clear insights into financial and operational metrics. Your collaborative approach will involve working closely with FP&A and operational teams to understand business needs and translate them into effective analytical solutions. Your work will support initiatives aimed at cost optimisation, revenue growth, and overall strategic improvement, making a tangible impact on the organization’s financial health and operational efficiency.
Qualifications The ideal candidate will be a data‑driven finance professional with proven experience in business intelligence, financial analysis, and automation. Strong technical skills are essential, including proficiency in Power BI, SQL, and Excel (with advanced VBA capabilities). Knowledge of programming languages such as Python or R is highly desirable, as is experience with SAP, SAC, and ETL processes. A recognised accountancy qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, or ACA will be advantageous, demonstrating a solid understanding of financial principles and reporting standards. The candidate should possess excellent communication skills, confidence in presenting complex data to senior stakeholders, and the ability to influence strategic decision‑making. A collaborative mindset and problem‑solving aptitude are also critical for success in this role.
Responsibilities
Automate and improve financial reporting and planning processes to reduce cycle times and increase data accuracy.
Identify manual workflows and design automated solutions using Power BI, SQL, and Excel VBA.
Consolidate data from ERP systems, spreadsheets, and operational databases into structured datasets for analysis.
Develop and maintain dynamic dashboards and reports to provide real‑time insights into financial and operational metrics.
Collaborate with FP&A and operational teams to understand business needs and translate them into analytical tools and models.
Support strategic initiatives by providing data‑driven insights for cost optimisation, revenue enhancement, and process improvements.
Ensure data integrity and consistency across all financial datasets and reporting outputs.
Stay updated on emerging technologies and best practices in data analysis and financial automation.
