The IT department provides solutions for application development, system deployment, user experience, quality assurance, and Project Management.
Job Overview/Summary The Senior Program Manager will lead initiatives focused on
document management and classification , migration of document management systems,
change management , and
enhancing document sharing capabilities
across the organization. This role ensures that documentation processes are standardised, secure, and aligned with compliance requirements, while driving adoption of new tools and practices through structured change management.
This position is central to leading enterprise‑level IT technology initiatives. The role will implement Agile Project Management procedures to efficiently manage program workstreams, supporting product backlog management, sprint planning, task management, and more.
Collaborate with other Project and Program Managers, Information Technology and Business Leadership to manage technical, functional and change work streams and maintain an integrated approach that ensures all functional areas work seamlessly together.
Major Responsibilities
Creates and Maintains an Integrated Project Plan: Develops and continually updates detailed program management plans, work breakdown structures, and ensures methodology adherence.
Manages Project Status Reporting: Prepares status reports communicating project scope, goals, achievements, budget, risk, status, change requests, and critical issues.
Supervises Project Cost Estimation, Ongoing Budget Tracking and Vendor Invoicing: Provides oversight of budget tracking and invoicing, assists with cost estimates and data analysis.
Performs Project Resource Management: Provides work direction and leadership, schedules, assigns work, reviews project efforts, identifies resource requirements and staff assignments, updates the project plan.
Conducts Risk Management: Maintains documentation of identified risks, mitigation strategies, and updates risk status as needed.
Supports Customer Management: Works with technology and business owners to analyse customer expectations for projects based on approved requirements.
Provides Overall Project Administration: Participates in program team meetings, records minutes, tracks issues, decisions and action items, and follows up to drive issues to closure.
Conducts Other Tasks as Needed: Performs other duties or special projects as required or assigned.

Job Requirements Experience / Education
Successfully managed complex programs with technology components.
3–6 years of project management experience in IT or software.
Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience managing document migration projects related to systems such as Box, OneDrive, Dropbox, etc. preferred.
Project management experience at an International NGO/Global Humanitarian Organisation preferred.
Project and/or program management certification (PMP, CSM, etc.) preferred.
Skills / Competencies
Excellent project management skills with a proven track record applying programme management principles, practices, and techniques with strong results orientation. Experience with Agile project management practices preferred.
Proven ability to lead change management initiatives and drive user adoption.
Experience using project management software tools such as Jira, Monday.com, and other tools.
Proficiency in regulatory requirements, safeguarding data, and adapting to changes within an IT technical environment.
Ability to develop strong partnerships with both the technology and business user communities. Self‑motivated and a problem‑solver who can assess and develop strategies for achieving user needs.
Effective verbal, written and interpersonal skills. Ability to communicate with technical staff and produce written reporting and presentable content suitable for a senior executive level.
Demonstrated skill in working in a matrix environment, notably in multi‑functional teams across different lines of business, where direct authority might not be present.
Working Environment
The position can be fully remote, with an in‑person office setting available for US candidates near IRC’s New York City Headquarters, London if based in the UK, and Nairobi if based in Kenya.
Standard working hours.
Minimal travel required.
Compensation Ranges are based on various factors including the labour market, job type, internal equity, and budget. Exact offers are calibrated by work location, individual candidate experience and skills relative to the defined job requirements.
UK Pay Range: £54,329 – £65,767
