Our busy distribution center in Des Moines, Iowa, is seeking a skilled and dependable Material Handler to ensure the smooth flow of goods throughout our facility. As a Material Handler, you will play a critical role in our logistics operations, responsible for the safe and efficient movement of materials, from receiving and stocking to picking and preparing for shipment. You will utilize various equipment, including forklifts and pallet jacks, to manage inventory and support our operational needs. The ideal candidate is safety-conscious, detail-oriented, and possesses a strong understanding of warehouse procedures. Strict adherence to safety protocols and the consistent use of mandated PPE are non-negotiable. This role requires physical capability, including the ability to lift significant weight, and a commitment to maintaining a clean and organized work environment. Responsibilities:
- Operate forklifts, pallet jacks, and other warehouse equipment safely and efficiently.
- Receive, unload, and inspect incoming shipments of goods.
- Store materials in designated areas, ensuring proper organization.
- Pick and stage items for outbound orders and internal transfers.
- Load and unload trucks with accuracy and care.
- Maintain accurate inventory counts and assist with regular audits.
- Keep the warehouse clean, tidy, and free from safety hazards.
- Follow all company safety policies and procedures meticulously.
- Wear and maintain all required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
- Work collaboratively with team members to meet operational targets.
Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Previous experience as a Material Handler or in a similar warehouse role is essential.
- Proficiency in operating forklifts and other material handling equipment (certification preferred).
- Solid understanding of warehouse operations and inventory management principles.
- Strong commitment to safety and the correct use of PPE.
- Physical stamina and the ability to lift up to 60 lbs regularly.
- Good organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
- Reliable attendance and a strong work ethic.
- Willingness to adapt to changing operational needs.
