*Job Summary*
Medication Technician (Med Tech) plays a crucial role in providing high-quality care by ensuring the safe and effective management of medications for residents in our assisted living community. The Med Tech will work closely with other caregivers to provide compassionate care and ensure that residents receive their medications as prescribed, while maintaining accurate records and adhering to all safety protocols.
*Essential Functions*
To accomplish this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform, with or without reasonable accommodation, each essential function satisfactorily:
* Administer medications to residents according to physician’s instructions, while ensuring accuracy and compliance with all state and federal regulations.
* Monitor residents for any potential side effects, allergic reactions, or changes in their health condition due to medication.
* Maintain proper documentation of medication administration, including medication records, refusals, and any adverse reactions.
* Assist in organizing and maintaining the medication cart and storage area, ensuring medications are correctly labeled, stored, and within their expiration dates.
* Provide timely and accurate communication to the nursing staff or clinical team regarding any concerns about medication effectiveness, side effects, or changes in a resident’s condition.
* Provide residents with assistance in activities of daily living (ADLs) as needed, including bathing, dressing, grooming, and mobility.
* Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including nurses, doctors, and caregivers, to ensure a cohesive care plan for each resident.
* Assist with the preparation and serving of meals to residents as needed, ensuring dietary restrictions are followed.
* Maintain compliance with all safety protocols, including infection control practices and emergency procedures, such as fire, flood, or medical emergencies.
* Attend and participate in all required training, including medication administration training and first aid courses.

*Education and Experience*
* High school diploma or equivalent required
* Medication Administration Training or completion of an approved Med Tech program (or willingness to complete training)
* Previous experience in assisted living or healthcare environment preferred
* Valid state certification as a Medication Technician or the ability to obtain certification within the first 30 days of employment
*Work Environment*
* Fast-paced environment with occasional high-pressure or emergent situations
* Work hours subject to facility needs to ensure coverage during all hours of operation
* Frequent interaction with a diverse population including team members, providers, residents, and family members
* Possible exposure to bodily fluids, infectious diseases, and toxic substances; employment may require use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE)
*Physical Demands*
* Frequent sitting, standing, walking, grasping, carrying, and speaking
* Occasional reaching, bending, and stooping
* Lifting, carrying, pushing, and pulling up to 50 pounds, with assistance if needed
* May need to lift or turn residents who are disabled, with assistance if needed
* Frequent use of computer.
Pay: $20.00 to 23.00 per hour
