About
About the role We’re looking for a Staff Fullstack Data Analyst to take ownership of our tracking efforts. The role sits within our Data function while partnering very closely with Product, Engineering, and Design teams. You will be embedded with core product squads for instrumentation and experiment reads, with clear ownership via data contracts.
To be very specific, you will report to the Head of Product Data & Analytics and work closely with Analytics Engineers, Data Analysts, Data Scientists, Data Engineers as well as Product & Engineering stakeholders on a day-to-day basis.
This role is both very strategic and technical where you will get the chance to establish our tracking standards organisation-wide while also being very hands-on with the implementation of our tracking approach. If you are driven by having a huge impact on product development and adoption, then keep on reading!
What you’ll be doing You will lead the design, implementation, and governance of our product tracking stack. Some of the key initiatives you will drive include:
Implementing the company-wide tracking plan and event taxonomy across web and mobile
Lead the identity strategy and join keys across auth states and devices
Define our Segment governance with Protocols: schemas, routing, enforcement rules, consent signals
Roll out SDKs and standards for web, iOS, and Android
Define data quality SLAs, alerting, incident playbooks, and QA frameworks for pre-prod and prod
Collaborate with Analytics Engineering on dbt models and downstream marts
Optimise for cost and performance across the tracking stack
In case you are curious, here is a list of some of the technologies the team is working with: Segment, Mixpanel, dbt, Looker, LookML, SQL, Python, BigQuery.
What you bring You are an established Senior IC in the data space with proven experience of managing data projects autonomously while aligning with SaaS Product & Engineer stakeholders. You can specifically bring:
Extensive experience in SaaS product analytics, or tracking instrumentation
Mastery of event taxonomies, identity stitching, and SDK rollouts
Proficiency with behavioral analytics tools and stakeholder enablement
Strong written documentation and enablement skills
Previous experience with experimentation
Proven solid experience with SQL and dbt, consent/PII compliance
Why is this role a good fit for you This role is for you if you:
Love designing event taxonomies and data contracts that make analytics fast and trustworthy
Have deep hands-on experience with Segment (Connections, Protocols) and product analytics tools like Amplitude or Mixpanel
Enjoy partnering closely with Engineers and Product Managers to instrument features and ship reliable tracking
Care about governance, versioning, and privacy without blocking velocity
This role may not be for you if you:
Prefer pure analysis over instrumentation and platform ownership
Don’t enjoy debugging SDKs, identity stitching, or end‑to‑end data flows
Want to avoid change management, schema evolution, and documentation
How you’ll develop in this role In your first few months at Pleo, you will:
Roll out a new "Gold Standard" for tracking plans with our pilot product team
Set up monitoring and alerting for tracking failures, giving you real‑time visibility into data health
Become the go‑to expert for Tracking at Pleo, shaping how the entire company measures product success
Beyond that, we’re committed to helping you develop your career, whether that means taking on bigger projects, stepping into leadership, or acquiring new skills in software engineering.

Transparency is important to us so we also wanted to share some insights about what we’re looking for in applications to ensure you can set yourself up for success! From past experience, candidate have not made it past the CV screening process for the following reasons:
CV writing and content: it was very clear that many of the CVs we saw were very generic and AI generated. There is no issue with leveraging AI to help with CV writing, but there was little indication of what real impact the candidates had in their previous experience. You might have heard of the “Achieved X, as measured by Y, by doing Z” formula (credit Laszlo Bock ~2014), this is a great way to give a clear picture of what you have actually worked on. Some link or quick description of the companies you’ve worked with is also a great help!
Application care: every single application we receive is reviewed by a human (yes, hundreds of them) because we believe that candidates' efforts should be matched by an equal level of human care. This means that we expect a similar level of attention put into your application. Read and answer the application questions carefully, they make a huge difference in our decision‑making process.
Profile to role fit: this is a Staff level Analyst role which requires both deep technical expertise of tracking for SaaS products but also an ability to lead high‑profile projects that have organisation‑wide impact. Having just a bit of Product Analytics experience won’t be enough, we’re looking for a real subject matter expert. We’ve taken great care in writing this role description to reflect the reality of the job as best as possible, please ensure you read it carefully and highlight on your CV the experience relevant to what we are looking for.
