Job Overview We are looking for a hard‑working, creative and motivated engineer to join our GPU development team. The role is based in Cambridge in the UK. The successful candidate will be an experienced hardware design engineer with a good understanding of software and device drivers, and a proven track record of delivering high‑quality results on ambitious timescales. You will work as part of a cross‑site team and take ownership of a range of tasks that are required for successful bring‑up and debug of complex tests, games and benchmarks for cutting‑edge GPUs. You will collaborate closely with the architecture, model, design, verification and device driver teams to ensure that Arm GPU products are delivered to our customers at the highest quality levels from early concept stages through to final delivery.
Responsibilities
Root‑cause debugging of complex functional issues and HW/SW interactions.
Close collaboration with a wide range of teams and disciplines to establish, drive and coordinate debug efforts.
Tooling and script development to facilitate and optimise efficient debug.
Review new GPU technology, assess it for debuggability and identify new debug challenges.
Interact with a wider team responsible for assembly, testing and delivery of GPU HW roadmap products.
Required Skills and Experience
Strong fundamental computer systems knowledge, with experience in top‑level hardware debug of CPU, GPU, or other accelerator IP.
Strong problem‑solving and debugging skills, with the ability to collaborate closely with both hardware and software teams.
Experience with hardware description languages, preferably System Verilog.
Proficient in version control and code review systems such as Git and Gerrit.
Skilled in scripting languages such as Python, Perl, JSON, Tcl, Make, etc.
Nice to Have Skills and Experience
Understanding of GPU architecture and micro‑architecture.
Understanding of a general‑purpose CPU architecture (preferably ARM) and an interconnect architecture (preferably AMBA).
Experience with complex SoC design and host/accelerator integration (configuration and communication mechanisms, interrupts, memory management, memory coherency).
Understanding of computer graphics techniques and APIs (e.g. OpenGL, Vulkan) or compute APIs (e.g. OpenCL).
Understanding of HW and SW logging and tracing mechanisms and development of tools and methodologies for improving debug efficiency.
Experience in SoC integration – low power techniques and UPF, multi‑clock (CDC) and multi‑power domain designs, DFT, LBIST/MBIST, etc.

You will drive and bring your ideas to a wider group of experts, build technical leadership and influencing skills, and progress towards becoming an established expert within the team.
